I dont shy away from spending money if I think Im getting a quality product and this is just that. There may be cheaper alternatives but Ive not had chance to test them again this. This is light, easy to use and very responsive.It feels solidly built and the screen on the controller is excellent. I have read a few reviews where people are confused/struggled with the instructions but it is really quite simple and I found it quite intuitive.If you are interested in long exposures or time lapse then do not hesitate. My previous release was a wired Nikon cable that ended up failing after many years of faithful service.The distance on the remote is great too. Bought as replacement to my IR remote which died after 8+ years of good service. Researched several similar devices this one being mid price range. Well made, build quality inspires confidence. Takes AA batteries, very useful when out and about as these are readily available. Battery connections appear to be good too although early days yet. Display is clear, easy to set and use. Also backlit if required. WiFi range is excellent and, as expected, works even if walls between remote and camera. Useful having different cables for different same brand cameras or,should it be necessary, getting a different set of cables for another camera brand. Initially care is needed connecting the 10 pin Nikon cable - a small guide dot/arrow would be helpful but easier after practice. Also useful to be able to replace a cable should it be damaged - big plus over hard wired remotes though there is always the possibility of mislaying the cable. Both timer and receiver have on/off switches so no need to remove batteries when storing. However the switches are light and responsive so It would be easy to inadvertently catch a switch, say putting in a camera bag so just to be aware to avoid unwelcome flat batteries.Tested timer repeatedly for accuracy with a very minor differences reported between timer setting and result reported by two Nikon cameras e.g. set to 20secs cameras reported 19.7 secs and similar very minor differences across a range of times. Not mission critical at all but mention it having found it and for completeness. Does seem to be a remote issue as same results on two cameras.Being a solid sturdy device with 4 (2x2) AA batteries it is not small nor light - but for the sturdy build and readily available AA batteries a price worth paying.The instruction manual for such an elementary device could be clearer.A terminal protector cap for the Nikon 10 pin lead would be an inexpensive improvement.On the whole impressed with the quality for the price - good value for money.

At the moment I find nothing wrong about it.So far I am experimenting with some Lee filters and, as an amateur photographer'I find it very useful and easy to use.

Having recently returned a faulty poor quality timer from another manufacturer my search began for a better quality product and fortunately the ' Hahnel Capture ' turned up. More expensive but very well built with positive feeling buttons and a robust connecting cable. It works perfectly on my camera every time without issue. The instructions could be better but overall an excellent product from Hahnel that is well made, 5 stars.

I had one before when I shot Canon five years ago, these remotes are awesome but what made me decide to give it a 1 star? Is for being a high quality remote it doesn't included the needed cables for the camera you selected. I shoot with a D800 and assumed it would be supplied to connect to most modern Nikon cameras... and yet it only supplies two of the three cables for Nikon, i was planning to do a photo shoot today and have to order a cable to use this. Now my shoot will be delayed thanks to the greed of Hähnel trying to extract as much as possible.

Das Gerät (Emfänger, Handsender) macht einen sehr wertigen Eindruck, es fühlt sich einfach gut an. Montage funktioniert einwandfrei, der Empfänger passt genau in den Standardblitzschuh, das Feststellrad ist griffig. Die Kabelverbindung ist ebenfalls gut, die Stecker passen und wackeln nicht. Synchronisation erfolgt automatisch, einfaches Auslösen der Kamera funktioniert zuverlässig. Bis hierher: 2 Sterne.Der Rest ist dann für mich schlicht unbrauchbar, und deswegen kommt auch kein Stern mehr hinzu.Erstes K.O.-Kriterium ist das Display. Am Tag gut abzulesen, ist die Anzeige in der Dunkelheit nicht zu entziffern, besonders die ziemlich kleine Anzeige der Intervall-Wiederholung (und die ist wichtig!) ist nicht erkennbar. Die verbaute Hintergrundbeleuchtung ist einfach viel viel viel zu schwach.Zweites K.O.-Kriterium ist dann die Programmierung bei Belichtungsreihen oder mehreren Langzeitbelichtungen. Einfach untauglich! (fairerweise schränke ich ein: Für die Art von Aufnahmen, die ich mache).Beispiel: Belichtungsreihe. Bei meinem ganz dummen Kabelauslöser, der nichtmal eine Batterie hat, drück und arretiere ich den Auslöser, die Kamera macht die Serie. Wenn fertig, dann entriegele ich den Auslöser wieder. Total einfach, total zuverlässig. Bei diesem Funker ist es leider anders. Es gibt zwei Möglichkeiten:1. ich feuere eine "Long"-Auslösung ab. Hierfür muss ich den Auslöser 3 sek drücken, damit die Elektronik sozusagen "einrastet". Ist die Belichtungsreihe aufgenommen, tja: Ich muss dann durch einen weiteren Druck auf den Auslöser die ausgelöste "Long"-Belichtung beenden. Dabei wird nur leider bereits wieder eine neue Auslösung vorgenommen, und das erste Bild der nächsten Belichtungsreihe entsteht. Das ist absolut unbrauchbar.2. Ich programmiere eine Schleife, 5 Einzelbilder. Das funktioniert nur dann, wenn ich als "Interval" mindestens die Zeit der längsten Belichtung + 1 Sek einstelle. Nur weiß ich die Zeit ja nicht, bzw die ändert sich auch je nach Motiv, ich muss also ständig die Programmierung anpassen. Das ist fürchterlich unkomfortabel.Noch ein zweites Beispiel, eine Reihe von BULB-Aufnahmen. Mache ich gerne, wenn es um Lichtspuren geht (z.B. in der Stadt, Strassenverkehr), um eine gute Auswahl an Fotos zu haben. Auch hier das Problem, dass das Intervall mind. 1 Sek länger als die Belichtungszeit sein muss. Warum wird nicht klar - vor allem auch, weil das Intervall erst nach Abschluß der Aufnahme anspringt. Das heißt konkret: 30 sek. belichten, 31 Sek warten, 30 Sek belichten, 31 Sek warten.... Stellt man das Intervall z.B. auf nur 1 Sek (in der Annahme, das wäre die Pause zwischen den Aufnahmen) wird man überrascht: Man erhält nämlich NUR EINE Aufnahme die x-mal (je nach Anzahl Wiederholungen) 30 Sek. belichtet wird. Bitte? Ja. Leider ist das so. Das ist einfach nur Mist!Die beigefügte Bedienungsanleitung zeigt die Montage, erklärt zur Programmierung aber nichts bis gar nichts.Produkt geht heute zurück.
