TTARTISAN100mm F2.8 Full Frame Bubble Bokeh Lens Camera Lense Compatible with M42 Mount Camera Lens

The lens is very solid, good metal construction. I just received the lens and have only taken a few quick snapshots with it. I'm loving the bubble Bokeh and can't wait to do more shooting with the lens.

Excellent packaging and quick delivery. It's an Impressive shiny new manual lens and my first M42 lens. I experimented on a sunny seaside day, later with flowers, early morning and sunset. But it remains way too early to fairly evaluate. The lens required getting used to because I haven't shot this type of lens before and the lens adapter required minor adjustment to line up Len's marks. No big deal. The adapter came with tools and adjustment was expected per my pre-purchase research. I have a Full Frame Sony A7Riii Camera that features In Body Stabilization, Focus Peaking and Back Button Focus easing manual focus. I got some cool bokeh effects on a hot sunny day at the beach. I like it a lot. But I lack of a lens hood is hampering full effect. Will see after I add one. I am testing various 49mm filters to handle glare for now. Looks like a keeper.

A little soft wide open but for the price it’s actually incredible for an interesting bokeh look. I have this on the Nikon z8 with a macro filter on it. Well worth it!!!

1) optically, it delivers as advertised. It's a very nicely made Trioplan lens. The soap bubbles are there in the blur when you want them. It's crisp, even wide open - not quite as sharp as some modern lenses, but plenty sharp enough. This is a very competent lens. Of course, it's a Trioplan, so it has the flaws of a mid 20th century design, like bad flare and soft corners (unless stopped down), but it's a modern one, with no haze, fungus or other flaws. Especially at the price, this is darned good.2) it's solid, the focus movement is lovely. The aperture ring has positive clicks, and is light. At this price, it's MORE than good enough. It appears to be extremely sturdy.3) This is designed to mount 90 degrees counterclockwise, seen from the filter end, when fitted to a properly machined M42 mount. It's usable, if odd, if fitted to a non-adjustable M42 mount. If fitted to a rotating M42 adapter, which is adjusted to match, it'll be fine.

Optically what I expected from the reviews. But one thing that's not mentioned is that it mounts upside down when mounted on the camera. Of course, ttartisans says you can adjust the mount to rotate the lens to the correct orientation, but that only works with some mounts. If you use any mount that cannot be adjusted, the lens will always mount in the wrong orientation.

Lens is soft focus as expected- 3 elements, hundred year old design. Focus was soft enough that focus peaking didn’t help with focus.Soap bubble effect is strongest wide open f2.8 and at minimum focus distance. I feel best usage practice for this lens is to focus at minimum distance and zoom with feet similar to using macro lens for the bubble effect. Otherwise a cheap portrait headshot lens.Uploaded picture is silhouette out of focus shot. Focus is forward of subjects wide open. Nikon Z7 1000iso.

Este lente es muy especial, y tu decisión de compra debe estar muy bien fundamentada.La longitud, 10mm, lo hace ideal para retratos. En lo particular, es mi longitud favorita para esto.Como todo lente TTArtisan, te dará un look muy orgánico. Esto es, no es tan nítido como los lentes digitales. Pero eso es bueno, porque le da un look distinto a las fotos. Hace que se vean un poco "vintage"El Bokeh que da es increíble. De inmediato se ve diferente al de otros lentes, y eso le da un valor extra, al menos para mi.Lo que debes pensar bien es, si tienes, o no, problema con el enfoque manual. Porque si estás acostumbrado al auto enfoque de tus cámaras, este lente solo te va a traer frustraciones. Y como buen lente manual, y de larga longitud, no es tan fácil el lograr ese enfoque perfecto, requiere de paciencia, de práctica, de buenos ojos y de usar el asistente de enfoque de tu cámara.Si la falta de autoenfoque no te molesta, estarás muy contento de sumar este lente a tu arsenal.

good specialised lens

I think I didn't achieve full soap bubbles effect yet but I 'm working on it. So far I noticed the lens is on the soft side but it works.

Ya se sabe que la lente es completamente manual y no es de uso rápido, sin más bien para fotos de objetos estáticos, porque el enfoque es manual y es difícil enfocar objetos en movimiento, aunque no es imposible. Yo he adquirido esta lente por el efecto de burbujas que me parece un efecto muy especial y muy estético, no se puede lograr con otros lentes. Imposible encontrarlo en las tiendas de fotografía de mi localidad, pero gracias a plataformas como esta es posible. El pedido llegó mucho antes de los estimado y en perfectas condiciones.

The lens is soft and glowy wide open, but the center sharpens up decently stopped down. Corners—not so much. It suffers from low contrast at proper exposure, and is very prone to washed out flaring. It's relatively heavy for a lens that only opens to f/2.8, and remember, you'll need an adapter to use this, making the lens even longer and heavier.The manual focus ring is thin and fairly unpleasant to use, and the aperture ring sits right at the front of the lens, is also very thin, and turns in the opposite direction I had expected. I found it difficult to use by touch alone.Basically, the ergonomics of using this lens is not great, and neither is the picture quality. HOWEVER, the purpose of this lens, and what its advertised as, is to create soapbubble bokeh balls. And it definitely does that. In fact, due to the relatively low price of this lens, compared to used trioplans or the more recent trioplan rerelease, this lens makes WAY more sense for someone that needs an occasional special effects lens.If you know you're going to want to create images where the busy bokeh is part of the composition, or even the entire composition, then pick this up. I'm glad this lens exists. I only wish it had a nicer-to-use design.But do yourself a favour, and buy a separate lens hood for this, as well as underexpose your shots a bit to combat the low contrast. And if you want to avoid the soft glowy rendering, stop down to f/4 or f/5.6.
