Smooth surfacing!
The Genmitsu Surfacing router bit with carbide inserts is fantastic! I am an avid woodworker both professionally and by hobby. I have found on occasion the need for a wide router bit for various reasons. I find the straight flute cleanout router bits are ok but are more for cleaning up edges and flush routing and not for surfacing (maybe making a dado or rabbit joint tho). This router bit is perfect. My Bosch 2.25hp router took this like a champ. I swapped the collets out and this slid right in. I have in the past found off brand router shanks too loose or too tight for my router collet, but this is an accurate 1/2in shank (0.4997in according to my digital caliper). I set the depth to about 1/32 and did a little dance on the top of some old rough douglas fir. The surfacing bit did an amazing job. I had no catches even going over the knots. The bit seams to be rather well constructed and balanced. I experienced no awkward vibrations while using it. It did NOT come pre oiled with that sticky nasty protectant that I often see on tools coming from overseas. I plan on purchasing a router/cnc machine in the future and I will be very glad this piece is on hand!Pros:4 inserts that can be rotated before changing them out completely.Accurate 1/2in shankIncludes torx head insert removal tool.Con:No protective case. I refuse to use the large box it came packaged in (product package not shipping package), I will have to make a small protective box for it.

Crooked, but fixed easily and boy, does it cut well.
One of the cutters was a tad crooked when I pulled the bit out the package. Easy enough to fix, loosen the bolt, tighten the bolt, done.I tested this out on my router table to see how well it cut. I took a chunk of maple that I had milled and dried and ran it through across the spinning bit.The result was a nice, smooth, accurately measured, and the bit had zero issues carving the path in the wood. The fact that the cutting blades can be replaced is great. I mill most of the wood that I make my guitars from. This will be a big help in getting the rough cut chunks ready for the planer and jointer.Great product, works well. The only thing that I'd change is include a case for the bit and one extra set of cutters. Those are "nice to haves" so I won't dock the product any stars for that.

super sharp - great finish
easy fit for my CNC and is a great flattening bit. i really like the indexable inserts that gets 4x life out of the cutter before needing to order more inserts.

Super high-quality surfacing tool with interchangeable cutting bits
This plain cutter is really well-made and comes with four interchangeable cutting inserts. It makes surfacing your spoil board or work very easy and smooth.

High quality bit
I've created one spoil board with this bit so far and I have to say that it still looks like brand new. My CNC bed is only 2 by 2 feet, but I was surprised at how effortlessly this bit worked. The blades are exchangeable and the required wrench is included for that purpose.Overall I'm very pleased.

Great bit
I have a generic 3018 CNC router/engraver. It has an ER11 Collet which will accept a 1/4" shank bit. I was trying to machine a spoilboard to use on this engraver. It did not work. The problem was not with the bit. The problem is with the alignment of my spindle. It is slightly out of square to the face of the table. When I attempted to surface a sheet of MDF it came out with ridges due to the spindle being misaligned. This bit is fine. I like the fact that it has replaceable bits. Once I master the spindle alignment I'm sure this will get the job done. Good value for this price point.

Very well made cutter.
This is an excellent addition to my router bit collection, its very well made and it will get tested in the not to distant future. It would be nice if it came with a case and also if it included different size cutter blades (yes it would have to cost more). I like it, a little pricey so it would be nice to add a case for that price.
