Another Great Product By Govee
Christmas sales started popping off.. already had a tiny bit of experience with Govee lightbulbs and home automation. For the price point (especially when on sale).. it was a no brainer. The sensor is fairly small, battery already installed… had done my homework and knew I needed the Govee Distributed Gateway in order to best utilize this device; picked up a pair of Govee smart plugs that also act as the necessary hubs. By combining the two, you are able to lint the sensor to the hub/plug and truly take advantage of configuring it automation capabilities. My first one was purchased during that Holliday Sale high… as a result of realizing that for whatever reason I continuously leave the bathroom lights on.. working from home; this means they can and will be on all day and all night unnecessarily. So, this kinda just fell into my lap and everything started sparkling and “Dreamweaver” was faintly heard… it was meant to be.Setup: super freaking easy. Open box. Open App. Hit the + in the app.. bam! Added the sensor and plug hub. Skimmed an article to make sure I understood how their “ Distributed Gateway “ works and how the UI for automation setup is configured.- so I set up the automation to trigger when you step into the bathroom; kicking the lights on automatically and also after a defined time interval turns them back off. Easy peasy.. and as an additional bonus: I now can wake up in the middle of the night or early in the morning and just walk into the Ian’s not have to worry about finding the light switch when I’m not even fully awake; definitely don’t have to worry about hitting the lights on my way back to bed either!Works so well, that I have purchased a second one and configured automation similarly to turn on and also kill the lights in my home office/studio/workbench/tinkering hobby lab. - as I am always busy and strive to take on every task that comes my way. Knowing that I have an extra pair of motion “ eyes “ without relying on cameras to do the same thing that might become a security risk had I gone with a completely different non-Govee solution.Would I or have I suggested this to any one I know OH YES I HAVE!!!*** would I purchase again?— ALREADY HAVE ( in under a 3 weeks)— Planning on picking up a couple moreAnd the special extra I got out of the smart plug.. allows me to control them via the app as well as verbally;via Google Home Assistant. Can’t beat those collective multiple abilities…. And I’m already seeing a noticeable difference in my power bill. Thanks Govee!! For pick him up the ball when others have dropped it and building such an amazing larger ecosystem and GoveeLife. Bringing the larger vision of home automation and such a huge variety of great products and products that allow for such a a flexible application of your offerings and you just can’t beat how easy it is to get the hardware configured. Gone are the days of 15 minute setup per unit and all the frustration that came while dealing with very well known competitor’s products; which unfortunately are slowing all dying out in my home ecosystem.A very pleasant experience.Things work and are accepted openly when they do just one thing: exactly what it says it does with extremely easy setup.

It just works if you have it turn off the lights after 15 min.
Works well for my need. I was able to set it up to auto turn on lights when I enter the room, I extended the timeout to about 15 to turn off automatically. I wish the app supported iOS proximity so when I enter an area via gps it would turn on like I have with my iHome plug bar. Outside of that you need a subscription to ITTT. This filled that void and allows me to have something that will turn on the lights when I enter the room, and sitting next to the sensor, it doesn't turn off the lights throughout the day until I leave at night. It connects via Wifi with no issues and is very easy to getup. There are a lot more options, but I just needed it to keep the lights on while I'm in the room and it works well for that. I've not had it long enough to understand the battery life, but being able to disable it firing for 15 min should extend the battery life. Its a great value for the money cause it just works.

Great Motion Sensors for your Home
TLDR: Save on your Electric bill by automating your lights. Great Product, As Described, Simple to Set Up and can help with automation of any Govee Product. With the ongoing cost of inflation and electricity hikes, I wanted to find a solution that would help save more electricity in our home. I found that many lights would remain on constantly throughout the house, although the room was not in use. As kids move round the house, they forget although we've told them time after time. These sensors were a great solution for me. I have a lot of Govee lightbulbs throughout the house, so the automation was a breeze. Now, if motion is detected between predetermined hours, the lights will turn on and remain on for about a minute unless further motion is detected. If no motion is detected for about a minute, the lights will automatically shut off.Installation takes a few seconds. Simply remove the battery tab, go into the Govee Up, click on Ad. It'll automatically detect the new device. Clock on it to add, then simply quick press the button on the sensor to pair. Once paired, you can immediately add it to a group and set your automation and/or schedule. This motion sensor interfaces with a lot of their products, so it is very easy to create automations. For those like me who have Govee devices exposed through HomeKit via Hombridge and/or Home Assistance, these sensors are not yet compatible with that. However, it is in the works.

Govee App makes these unusable
The Govee app provides only "Instant Execution" and "Delayed Execution" automations, and no "No Motion Detected" feature. That means you have to select a time period that the lights WILL turn OFF, incredibly even if motion is still being detected. So, I am working in my garage and the automation keeps turning OFF the lights, even though I am moving near the sensor AND I commanded the lights to be ON, and it runs the time off automation every time it senses motion. Even worse, I have multiple motion sensors in the garage, at each entry point and each will start an automation to turn the lights on, then off. These motion detectors DO NOT appear in the Alexa (or other) apps to create a routine there, so the Govee app is the only way to create automations, and it simply will not do.Even if one of these was just controlling a hallway light, say off after 5 minutes, if you are passing back through at 5 minutes it could time out right when you need it and leave you in the dark... and it takes them 10+ seconds to cycle back to being able to turn on after the automation times out. This is a horrible product because it has a horrible app. I will be returning these and the Govee smart plugs I bought to use these with, and I will not be buying anything Govee again.

Small and works
Nice small motion sensor BUT it can not trigger an automation.
