Blown away! This is a must have security camera.
This company did an absolute incredible job with designing a security camera that is easy to install and has reliable tech. I was hesitant at first after some of the reviews that I read about, but my experience has been nothing but GREAT. Install took about 20 minutes between drilling and installing the mounts and connecting the actual camera.I love that I can set an alarm at certain times for this camera to set off strobe lights and a siren. I can move the camera from my phone 360 degrees and use live voice settings with QHD quality video. It connects to Alexa as long as you have an Alexa device with a screen on it!!I will be outfitting the rest of my house with more of these cameras!

Pleased with the features and the app (UPDATE)
This camera was a replacement for my 2 year old yi outdoor wifi plug in camera which stopped working completely after a software update.I unpacked the camera, put it in the sun for 15 minutes while connected to the solar panel. The power/reset/sd card are all under a removable rubber plug on the bottom of the camera. Powered it up. Followed the instructions and installed the app. There you are prompted for your wifi info. I had no issues.Easy mounting. Toss all the included screws and anchors in the trash. They will cause you needless frustration. I used 2 drywall screws to fasten the camera bracket to the bottom of a rafter tail under my eaves on the corner of the house facing south. Slide the camera on the rail and it clicks in place. 3 more drywall screws to fasten the detachable solar base to the fascia on the west side of my house around the corner. Then hand screw on the solar panel and adjust. Hand tighten nut. Done. Cord from panel to camera is plenty long. Maybe 6-8 feet. I used about a foot. Ziptied and tucked the rest. Everything seemed sturdy enough for high winds. There are a lot of features on this camera. Install the app on your phone. It operates them well. It displays wifi strength percentage and battery power percentage realtime. My camera gets about 75-80% approximately 50 feet away from the router thru the garage on an Xfinity router. More than I expected. Battery life seems more than adequate with the included solar panel. But we've had full sun so I'll watch that. The camera has numerous features. It has an optional siren. With a warning on the app stating it may annoy your neighbors. I don't use that. And haven't heard it. It has 2 regular lights which will illuminate a small area if you choose to use that option. Turn on/off with the light button on app. There is night vision B/W and night vision color which uses different lights. I use b/w. The picture quality is fine. I don't need night colors. Overall quality of picture is really good. On the app, you just drag your finger on the screen to rotate the camera. 360 degrees around. Probably 90 degrees vertical from horizon and going straight down. There is a paid AI function which will recognize packages and animals and people and differentiate. I use an SD card for storage. I formatted it on PC using slow format fat 32. Installed in camera. Pressed alerts, and camera prompted to reformat SD card. Took 2 times but then it started functioning. You can set alert zones and all kinds of notifications for everything. The first camera I ordered would not power on. I returned it and the second on powered right up and worked fine. There is an included window security camera sticker. I'll be happy if I can get at least 2 years out of this camera. I love the idea that it's soler and doesn't add on to the power bill. I like the Fullscreen option on the phone/ipad. Also to add a second phone/iPad to view the camera, you have to add a 'family member' to your 'family' it's kind of convoluted but I got it to work reliably. It takes a while to set it up and dial it in, but it's worth it. I'd recommend the purchase. I will update as necessary*UPDATEIt appears the plastic cover over the camera lens has turned cloudy around the outside. The picture is blurred. I've cleaned the lens several times with a microfiber cloth and even tried light Windex on the cloth. Nothing is changing. Used to be perfectly clear. Haven't had the camera very long. Hopefully it will not continue to cloud to the point of unusability. Will keep you posted.2nd UPDATE 1-7-23Lens has cleared up. Don't know how or why but the picture quality is back to normal.

I'm very impressed
Very easy to setup. I had no issues at all.The Solar panel charged it while very cloudy out.I mounted it on a Horizontal Beam on my deck so I can see the back yard or the back of the house, since it has 360 deg of rotation.Motion detection works great, both when facing the deck and house or the back yard below the deck.I was afraid I would not be able to unmount it to move it once mounted, because it snaps on the the base you mount. But with a little force it will pull back off.Very Happy with my purchase. I will definitely look at ANRAN for more devices.

Almost useless as a security camera
The good news first. Motion detection triggers. At night, the lights go on. It pans and tilts. The battery in the camera lasts a long, long time, and the solar charger works very well. The Wi-Fi connection is easy to establish and it works well. Still images from the camera are of relatively decent quality. Motion is another thing. That's about it for the good. I am using it with an iPhone and Apple Watch. They do not work well with their app. The watch works such that alerts are announced on either the watch or the phone, but not both. You can see the banner messages on both with well-behaved apps. With this app, the watch gets a silent banner, so there is no alert to hear or to be alerted in any way. On the phone, you hear an alert, but there is no clue whatsoever where it came from. This only happens if the app is loaded and running in background; otherwise, no alarms will get to you.Even if you put that aside, It takes 20 to 40 seconds before you can establish a connection with the camera to see what is going on. By that time, you will be saying "have a good night and thank you for not killing me" to the burglar. If instead you keep the camera on to view live, it consumes tons of power on your phone. The camera only gives you live video for short amounts of time it seems and then freezes. Video at 5MP is jerky. The imager appears to be 4x3 aspect ratio, so in any orientation of your device, you see a partial picture. You can move around it somewhat. Also, be aware that this camera is not a PTZ. It does not Zoom. It is only PT (pan and tilt). You have to zoom the image on your viewing device, and the more you zoom, the blurrier the image will get. The PT functions are sluggish. You have to just tap the controls a little at a time. It is by no means a smooth movement unless you want to pan the camera through a large angle. But even in that case, it gets away from you because of the delay. Mine is only about 8 feet from the Wi-Fi router, so there is no excuse for the delay. This is my fist experience with home security cameras. This is not my first experience with these products however. I used to work at a large corp. that designed much more sophisticated types of dome cameras for commercial use like casino security, shopping mall or store security, etc. These are toys comparatively, but technology is much, much cheaper these days, which makes these things available for home use. But this is my first home camera of this type, so maybe they are all this way and I'm expecting too much. I certainly hope there are much better products than this for home security that give you an instant feed upon detection of motion (I mean in no more than 3 seconds), have better video performance and work well with Apple devices. This one does neither.

Straight out of the box surveillance
One of the first reviews of this camera on Amazon so it is lengthy - hope its helpfulArrived in the customary white and blue box, well packaged, solar panel on top with the instruction leaflet placed upon it in the recess – a nice touch. Underneath is the camera, the bundle of power cord for the solar panel and a USB cable (USB2 to USB Micro, note NOT USB C) a screw template plus 2 screw packs for the camera and solar panel with a spare screw. Not sure what the packaging material is, it is quite glossy to the touch so presumably some form of expanded plastic.Made of the usual ANRAN style hard white plastic and the camera feels solid and of good quality with all the access ports well sealed or hidden beneath. Note that the camera does not come with a MicroSD card (8-128GB Class 10) but that is only needed for local storage and the camera will apparently work without it if attached to a Wi-Fi router.I located the charging point in the base and connected it via the USB cable to a standard phone charger. Took about two hours. A small red LED illuminates next to the power socket when power is applied and turns blue when charged (not mentioned in the manual). This is my first experience with a battery-powered CCTV device, and I was impressed with the flexibility it offers in terms of mounting - essentially anywhere it can receive the 2.4Ghz signal from my router. The downside of course is that it only records when activated by the motion sensor, which was the reason I originally purchased a more traditional powered Wi-Fi system with an NVR recording 24/7. The latter is limited by power source location and this camera is intended to fill a gap in coverage in an area of the garden where there is no power. Like all battery cameras there is a wake-up time of 2 or 3 seconds - note for event recording you need to allow a pretty long period or whoever triggered the alarm will be long gone.Points to note – mounting point needs to be accessible – IR CCTV cameras attract spiders and their webs and you need to clean the lens from time to time, but not too accessible! So, once my microSD card arrived, I started the set-up. Registering an account with the CloudEdge app is straightforward – you can also share with up to 6 family members. Inserting the microSD card is a little hairy – there is an orientation diagram with dire warnings but it went in easy enough, often to latch a microSD you need a tool of some kind if you have fat fingers like mine, but I could do this with my fingertips. Switch on required a push on the button for a few seconds then a red light illuminated on the front of the camera. Pairing with my Wi-Fi and the app was a breeze and then a blue light appears. I have had issues in the past using a mobile phone to conduct a device pairing when you have a dual channel router and both channels have the same name, but I experienced no issues and all was connected after a few moments following the clearly explained procedure in the instruction leaflet. I liked the QR code being read by the camera. Note that when in position a blue light appears when the camera is activated and connected – this is very obvious at night, similarly the IR lights glow red and are easily seenOnce paired the app directs you to take a site survey and confirm the Wi-Fi signal is strong enough at the intended location. I had already scouted potential sites with a Wi-Fi analyser and knew it was OK, but it is still a good feature: nothing worse than installing a Wi-Fi device and then finding the signal is inadequate after it’s too late! My location is about 30 metres from the router and the app reported a 62% signal strength, although later that evening it reported 100%. The router is in a direct line with the camera with only a window between (partly why I chose the location).I mounted the camera on a short wood offcut after connecting the solar panel (approx. 3 metre cable attached through a plastic ‘bung’, I noticed there is a smaller bung supplied with the screws to stop up that hole presumably if you don’t use the solar panel which is a nice touch). Note that the bottom of three screws is obscured by the camera which means you need to put the bottom one in centrally, slide the camera under the screw head (adjusting for tightness, so it took a few goes to get it right) and then screw in the top two screws. (NB: see Update Below Jul23, strongly recommend NOT using screws provided, use good quality galvanised or brass). I then screwed the offcut to the side of an outbuilding. This method meant I got close to 300 degrees coverage rather than putting it on a wall or a tree trunk. After making sure all was working with the app, I then attached the solar panel (south facing) close by and tidied away the spare cable. 3 metres of cable means you can place the solar panel in an area that gets full sun while putting the camera somewhere shadier where it won’t be dazzled. Interestingly with all the waving about and going up and down ladders the camera remained connected throughoutPlaying with the app I discovered it has good smooth pan and tilt, the zoom is digital and soon pixelates but it is fine as a surveillance tool. At night I had not thought about the IR illumination, and it does scatter back off the roof immediately in front of it, tilting up a bit helped a lot but its worth thinking about if you have anything reflective near the camera. IR coverage is good, at least 25 metresIt has tipped down here over the past few days and I noticed that rain can collect around the lens of the camera, shifting it into wind and adjusting the tilt blew most of it off. I also had what appeared to be some condensation on the lens but it has gone now.Alarm management is through the app. There are various options to control sensitivity (the motion detection is tuned to humans), how long recordings are made once an alarm is triggered and a period to generate alerts which come though the app as notifications. This can be set by day(s) and you can set numerous time periods to cope with day/night at home or away etc. For example, you can have a simple overnight alert period 2000=0700 every day and also individual time periods outside that when you are working or whatever. I have tested the motion detection and it works fine and does not seem to alert on small animals like dogs (we have 3 running around) or chickens. You can also set lights and sound alarms including a steady floodlight (see photo 5) and a strobe/siren which is quite loud, especially at night. Not sure how far the detection range is as the geography of our site forces you to walk past at about 8-10 metres.Battery management is through the app too. By the time I had installed the camera daylight was fading so the camera was on battery, but the next morning I noticed it was charging when the gloom lifted briefly. As far as I can see that’s the only way to be sure the solar panel is working. The panel seems to require direct sunlight, not just daylight, but it does charge quickly – 10% battery in around 45 minutes. So, in summary I am impressed. Marked down the motion detection because of the wake-up time but that's a feature of battery cameras. I reckon the night picture is better than the day picture (see 4th photo)Its been up a week so far, I will update in a month or twoNB since i published the photo order changed, first photo is night picture with LED floodlights, second is of night IR picture*Update 19 Jan 22*Not sure what's changed but the solar panel appears to be charging at lower light levels now. Battery is being maintained at 100% except on really dreary daysOne night recently we were frequently passing the camera while it was set to alert. It must have alerted a dozen times.Afterwards the camera refused to respond to the app, a reset sorted it out*Update 2 June 22*Still going strong and alerts are reliable. Just moved the app from one phone to another with no issues*update 28 June 22*No issues, been away on holiday within the EU and logged in remotely via the phone app on hotel WiFi and 4g data. All worked fine, you get a data warning if you are using 4g but its not too hungry. Alerts still arrive even though we were roaming. Data is encrypted**update Nov22**Minor issues with spiders triggering the sensor by walking across it, I had some scary closeups of spiders on the video records! Otherwise all working well**Update July 23**TBH this unit has been so reliable I had virtually forgotten it, just the occasional alert as we passed by it. A week ago it suddenly dropped off the network and I could not access it via the app. Anyway got it down today. Charged it up, but it was 80% charged, checked the solar panel (charged my phone, so OK). Symptoms according to the app were reconfigure the network. So I brought it indoors, reset it and used the app to set it up again as new ('battery camera'). Worked first time - it even realised it was the same one. Took it back out, checked the network signal with the app. All OK and now functioning again. App has improved quite a bit, took the opportunity to apply the latest updates, can now programme a humanoid detection area. Not sure what the problem was, but I had moved my router a bit - it used to have direct line of sight to the mounting location through a window, so I have moved it back. Top tip - don't mount with the provided screws, after 18 months two broke off at the head as I removed them (admittedly they are in a hard wood offcut), use better quality screws

Edit: Failed after 1 month. No apparent repair or replacement program available outside of China.
Edit: As promised, my review is being updated on the question of longevity. It didn't even last a month!Initially it worked well, but as time progressed the time it takes the app to connect to the camera increased. Then when it connected, QHD mode would not stream for more than a few seconds. Switching to SD solved it, but now he same is happening in SD mode, it take minutes to connect but only displays a moving image for a few seconds before freezing and attempting to reconnect.Wifi is showing a connection strength of 79%, so it's not that. It feels like something internally is breaking down, perhaps heat related or just something at component level.I regret purchasing this camera as after just a month it's broken and my returns period has expired with the only option to contact the manufacturer based in China. So in the bin it goes.I DO NOT recommend this camera at all, its just so much landfill as these things tend to be.I ordered this to replace a three year old static solar powered battery camera that had recently died. Frankly lasting three years here in windy wet Ireland is pretty good and I would have purchased another one, but I really needed a Pan/Tilt camera to be able to monitor my gate where I will be placing an Honesty Box for items for sale with the proceeds going to charity.Having looked at what was available to me here in Ireland (which is a lot less than is available to those living in the UK) this one seemed to do most of what I needed it to do which was:1 - Pan and Tilt - Yes2 - Motion Detection - Yes3 - Local video storage - Yes4 - Motion Tracking - No5 A decent monitoring facility - YesSo 4 out of 5 is okay, but the only camera available to me in Ireland that had Motion Tracking had an overall poor review with comments that Motion Tracking was too slow.FittingEasy enough. I mounted it up on a 4" x 2" post screwed to my wooden fence by the gate. But not before running through the instructions to download the app and mount the camera to it. The whole lot took about 5 minutes.I have a TP-ink outdoor wi-fi extender to feed the signal to the outside. My house is a new build with foil-backed insulation on the walls, so any signal is mostly blocked from the indoor routers. Fitting the outdoor extender gives me the range I need to reach the camera on my gate, a distance of 50 metres. I get 68% signal which is just a little under my last camera, but in theory its good enough. In useIt works well enough. The Pan and Tilt instruction from your phone takes a moment to react, but that's only to be expected. The "QHD" image is actually not as good as my last camera which was Full HD but it's good enough for my needs. The app has a lot of functions for fine tuning, most of which is explained in the listing. It does have alarm detection, but this is where things get hazy and why I've dropped a star from my rating. The app suggests Human Detection is utilised for movement alarm, but it also suggests this needs activating in the app. However, this only seems to be available as part of a subscription. However, Cannot confirm this as when I go to peruse the available subscription based options, there is nothing available. It is possible Human Detection is a standard part of the app, and not subscription based, but like I say, it's unclear. As I would not use a sub anyway, it really matters not to me, but it might to you.Which app?The enclosed instructions suggest to use the ANRAN app. However I notice people are using the Cloudedge app that I used for my old camera. Perhaps changing to the Cloudedge app might bring back the subscription options, but as that's not the recommended app, I am only going to review the app the manufacturer currently recommends. The camera arrives almost fully charged, but the solar panel should keep it charged on a constant basis if I do not use power hungry options like ether pan and tilt and colour night vision too often. My old static camera never needed charging, even during the shorter dreary winter months, but then it was only ever used when it detected movement. Keeping the usage down like this will probably see you never having to charge the camera manually. So overall it get 4 out of 5 stars, with one knocked off for the lack of subscription options that the advertising suggests you can subscribe to.Time will tell where longevity is concerned, I always update my reviews if things go wrong, so you can be assured if this review is getting on a bit and there is no update that it's still going strong!
