Good camera, easy to use
Okay, first of all I'm not John Wu....most of my content is instructional. I put the camera on a stand, get one guy to follow the action, record it to an SD card and then send it off to my editor who makes the stuff I film seem cool.I run a martial arts school where we do two very contrary things, Chinese Internal Arts (Taijiquan and Xingyiquan, my favorites) and Krav Maga, a left over from military service. The camera gets solid action, images seem stable and the camera does it's job. The microphone is good enough to hear my instructions. As cameras go, it's better than the camera in my iPhone, it shoots 1080p and all is good. This is not the worlds most expensive camera, nor are my expectations so high, nor my ego so large that I need any more of a camera. Truthfully the editor of all this stuff is really the one that takes my content and makes sense out of it all. It's a good, inexpensive camera, I'd totally recommend it, it even comes with a case and remote, handy because I never thought of buying either.

Continually tried to auto-focus and had a terrible picture
I chose this camera for my church because it had an audio input jack that I could run the audio from our soundboard to and was priced low. I'be owned other Toshiba products and even though I saw other reviews that said that the camera continuously tried to auto-focus I hoped that maybe Toshiba had corrected the problem. They have not. With the terrible picture quality the camera was useless. I returned the camera, which thankfully was a painless process, and ended up buying a Cannon camcorder with audio input jack from Best Buy for quite a bit more.

A shame as it has a whole list of great features at a really good price
Has a problem focusing unless there is a lot of light and no movement in the field of view. Something is defective with auto focus and there is no manual override. Definitely a short coming on this camera. Almost worthless. A shame as it has a whole list of great features at a really good price. But just sits in the bottom of my equipment drawer waiting for the next garage sale.

Nice Camera, Simple Facts
This is the second Toshiba X400 I've purchased in the last 3 months. Very nice. No..the first didn't break. I storm chase, so our crew has always used multiple cameras in the field, and we need the portability. We've used Sony before, but the Toshiba line is far better, rugged, and not as pricey. The picture is very good, its easy to download, and so far, they seem very durable. NOTE: I've seen posts where about <10% of customers are unhappy with these, but I've read what/where/and how they are using them. The very simple facts of ANY video shoot are: 1) light the subject well-- if you're shooting in a bowling alley, indoors with only backlighting, outside at dusk-- your $3000 camcorder will shoot no better than a $60 one. 2) use an external microphone for much better sound. If you shoot across the room during a reception, there's no camera around that'll get your subject's dialogue when you're aiming from 50 feet away. Enjoy the camera-- use common sense. 99.9% of us are never going to be in Hollywood.

Awesome camera
Everything as advertised. Light, compact, awesome price and great picture. Need to buy memory flash card separately as it doesn't come with camera.

No support for this device - poor image quality
I have always respected Toshiba for good computers and stuff. This one disappointed me. The lens is inadequate, fuzzy results v. using my still camera, Canon S 100, not even close. Could not figure out some of the operation. Called support. Found out there is no support for this device. Like it or return it are only options. OK, back she went.

Out of focus on motion recording.
I nice camera, not heavy but it losses focus when recording in motion, you can hear it working on getting proper focus but you have to stay still to help it.Not happy with this purchase.
