This book is so much more than a book about France!
This is my second review because I bought 2 more copies and wanted to give an update! I bought this for a couple Christmas gifts-it’s a great idea for anyone who is planning on traveling to France or even thinking about it ir who just loves France! Also, Janine Marsh has all sorts of free material-a newsletter, quarterly magaize and a podcast-all relating to France-I am glad I found her and this book. I can’t wait to go back to France to check out some of the new things I learned from this book! I absolutely love this book! The author, Janine Marsh, does an excellent job of sharing her love of all things French in a hilarious, down to earth manner. She shares the good, the bad and the ugly of moving to a new Country and trying to fit into a new culture with a new language all while renovating a real “fixer upper.” The book is part history, part travel guide, part life lessons and part beautiful coffee table book. The photographs in this book are stunning, it is not a book that would be a good audiobook. It is a great gift for yourself and for anyone with an interest in anything to do with France! Merci beaucoup Janine!

Fun facts
very informative tome. Lots of good info and fun anecdotes. Excellent photos. The only dislikes are the book is a bit too physically small and the print also.

Janine is a treasure, just a treasure
This book is really neat. I can imagine trying to be French, this book explains in beautiful ways how to try and how I’ll never, never succeed. It’s well organized and smattering with beautiful pictures, really beautiful and neat pictures that I’ll treasure with the memories of the book. it’s fun to flip through just for the pictures, then you can delve into the prose which has a slightly British tone - A delightful twist. I’ve followed Janine search. She moved from London some 20 years ago. She has a bookshelf of writings to follow. Stay with her and you’ll be entertained and enriched. Oh, and she loves pastries, I mean loves them.

Magnifique!
Beautiful pictures, history, culture, art, abodes, language, and of course, the food--Author Marsh once again sets the stage for on how to obtain those je ne sais quoi fundamentals Francophiles around the globe hold dear! Chapter after chapter, the author highlights her own journey and experiences throughout, giving readers an inside view of life in France and how to embrace their lifestyle.I've truly enjoyed reading Author Marsh's books. Her narrative style draws you immediately in, giving readers something new to be learned and bringing a smile to your face as you explore each section. This latest book has certainly brought new additions to my travel bucket list and Francophile goals. It's a lovely read (one to savor again and again--the pictures are gorgeous) and makes a perfect gift idea. Ooh-la-la, highly recommended!

Gorgeous hardcover with striped end papers
Just received it today, but already skipped around and read a dozen pages or so out loud to my spouse. Our favorite section so far is how to talk French with body language mixed with expressive French sounds and what they imply. So fun! I purchased one copy to keep and one as a gift. Looking forward to reading the rest of it.
