I have a set of three-pound dumbbells I have been using as part of my work-out routine for about three decades. They have lasted a long time, but the vinyl is pretty dinged up, and they are not all that easy to grip. More than a few times, I have swung a bit askew and bonked myself on the head with them. Ouch! I saw these hand weights and decided they might be a good alternative.First of all, these are four pounds, rather than three, so it’s taken a bit to get used to the slightly heavier weights. Interestingly enough, they don’t FEEL a whole pound heavier—I think because of the fact that the weight is evenly distributed, rather than concentrated at the ends like the dumbbells.Second, the padding is terrific! My hands don’t slip on the grips like they do on the smooth vinyl of my old dumbbells, and if my swing gets a little wild, they don’t hurt my hips or head as much. My hands don’t get tired or sore with these, either. Should I take them in my luggage on a trip, the padding should help prevent damage to the other items in my bag.I really don’t need the adjustable strap on these, since I use them indoors rather than when walking. In fact, I wish that there was a way of detaching it. Other than that, the dumbbells look stylish with extra grooves and stripes on them. I only needed the one set, but for folks who get all three, it’s great that the dumbbells come in different colors to designate their respective weights.Other than the regular price of almost $30 for this set, which seems a bit high to me, I think these dumbbells are great! They would be a nice addition to your personal gym. They probably wouldn’t be ideal if more than one person was planning to use them.

Great adjustable hand weights that I'm using as part of my physiotherapy for a fractured shoulder. I ordered the 4 lb. weights and liked them so much; I followed up with an order for the 3lb. and then 2 lb. pair that are arriving at different times. Disappointed I ordered these weights as individual orders as I now see I could have ordered the entire set of three as a package deal for a much better price! It ended up costing $35.00 more by ordering individually. Valuable lesson learned. Other than that, I can't complain about the quality of the product. They are well made, comfortable and I love the vibrant colours.
