Couldn't be happier with our first LOTR game purchase
As big Lord of the Rings fans, we've been so pleased by this game. It's very fun yet very challenging, as each dice roll has its own strategic implications. The two of us will play this game when it's just us, or with a group of friends. At least a couple of times per game, we will literally cheer (or deeply groan) when something good happens (or bad). The endgame stage in particular feels very high-stakes, and I don't think I'll get bored of playing this game. I'll take a picture to upload next time we playFun to play:AbsolutelyDifficulty level:Hard. I'd say our win percentage is about 50, MAYBE 60%Playability:Pretty quick setup and breakdown for how many pieces are involved, which is super nice

Love this game!!
We always bring this game to game night with friends! It's so much fun. AND you have to team together to win! But.... Winning is a challenge, which makes the game even more fun! The art is really nice of the cards and board, and it's an affordable game! 10/10!! Recommend this game for a good evening :)

Best for solo play or beginners
First off, this is a very simple game to learn. There are only a few pages of instructions, and I think it can be easily taught to those in the “10 & Up” range that this is made for.It is a cooperative game. But in reality, all characters and cards are shared between the players; players merely take turns rolling the dice and deciding (with discussion allowed) which rolls to apply as the Fellowship advances toward Mount Doom. Therefore the experience of co-op vs solo is exactly the same. However, the “shared characters” may make it easier to play with (ie help) younger players.I would say the game has a higher than average luck factor, and a mid or slightly under strategy component. That said, it’s probably the right amount for younger players and beginners.Thematically, it’s neat because it’s LOTR, but it could easily be any other “Escort this VIP to their destination” game. The movable characters from the Fellowship don’t have any unique abilities. The theme is mainly in the artwork of the board and cards rather than in the gameplay.Playable in an hour.Overall, as an adult, I didn’t love it or hate it. As a board gamer, I think the payoff is a bit light compared to other options so I probably won’t go back to it often. But as a solo game, or especially a game to play with beginner gamers or younger players, I think it hits the mark.

So fun for lotr fans
As a die hard LOTR fan, this game is a lot of fun. There are teams, but really you want to work together. Good strategy game for sure, to get the ring to mount doom!!

Fun, very interesting
The rules were a bit hard to understand but once we got the hang off it, it became more enjoyable. It's well made, the colors very nice as well as the details. Overall it's a very nice buy for the price, the board game is nice in size as well.

Super fun!!!
This board game is amazing!!! It is the perfect balance of difficult to win and possible to win. The instructions were easy to understand and they have an app that explains it as well. The board is beautiful and the characters designs are great!!! We loved playing it and I'm excited to continue doing so in the future. ~K

Fun cooperative game, challenging, good replayability
This is a solid co-op game. The rules are complex at first, but take time to watch the how-to playthrough video and it's pretty straightforward. It's challenging to play and you will probably lose a couple times before figuring out a good strategy to get the Hobbit to the end. Great replayability and a nice gift for the LOTR and tabletop lover, even for those who don't know much about LOTR.
