Great book for the basics
This book has some serious competition eg Scott Kelby's new Photoshop cs6 for photographers ( different format but much of the same territory is covered). Still, it comes up well enough for me to rate it at 4/5.First my main reservation. Well, its not so much a criticism as a matter of semantics. The books seems really to be about the basics of photoshop rather than what I'd call "Tips and Tricks". As such, it presents the basics and more advanced procedures for using most of the main tools in photoshop ( and Raw adjustments). So, its not special and less known tips, more about the main tools and adjustments in photoshop. i had hoped for some wiz-bang hot and new recipes for doing things in photoshop but instead I got a ( very good) book covering much of the standard tools of trade, so to speak. Still for my money it was dollars well spent and I feel as though my investment has more than paid for itself. The book uses a very clear and easy-to-follow dot-point treatment of the use of the photoshop and raw tools, plus usually very pertinent warnings or tips where relevant. The titles of each section are clear and give you a good understanding of what you are going to learn. Each 'lesson" is about two pages long. Not long and involved processes here, just the more basic operations most users are going to want to know.Although the blurb says it assumes you already know the basics it seems to me a beginner could easily use this book and in so doing boost themselves to intermediate level.if, like me, you are around an intermediate level user you will still find a vast amount of useful stuff. I'd say if you are a top-end user you are likely going to already know much of the content. Each two-page section has a number of screenshots of photoshop screens, annotated with numbers which relate to the step-by-step guidelines in the section. I found the detail was meticulously done and very clear and precise.I would recommend this book for beginners and mid-level users. if you are thinking of buying a guidebook for photoshop, as well, bear in mind basically this is what you will get with " Top 100 Tips and Tricks". By the way, they give you 117 tips - a 17-tip bonus, which is nice.

Good reference for the new Photoshop
Got this for tips and tricks for the newest version of Photoshop (CS6) and it didn't disappoint. I have been using photo editing software for many years and finally got the top of the line Cadillac of photo editing. With that I needed an owners manual that could tell me things I don't know about the product and this was one of several books that is quite good for that purpose. While the book leads you through some easy to understand and simple tips it isn't written for the beginner so if you are be prepared to be stumped at some of the things it tells you to do. While most is done in a step by step format there are terms and conditions that you'll need to be aware of to get some of the tips. They do have the tip broken down into easy, medium and hard type tips and the author lets you know what type of tip it is from the start. If you're looking for a tutorial then this isn't the book for you. There are many others with more in depth writing about how the tools and panels work. Most of this books material is presented assuming you know what Photoshop is already. Happy photo editing!!

Good for Advanced-Beginner to Intermediate Level
Photoshop users with advanced beginner to intermediate experience can benefit from this book. The tutorials are easy to follow, and are designated with the difficulty level in color. The screen prints are in color, which makes the lessons easy to follow. The step-by-step instructions are quite detailed with the numbered balloons.Readers with no Photoshop experience will have some difficulty following some of the lessons, because the author assumes one has some basic PS knowledge. This book does not cover all the new CS6 updates in detail, so it is best to look in other books or the adobe.com site for that info.

These books are very helpful. Good series.
I really appreciate this series. They go in to highlight the stuff you want to know. They skip over the things you see in all the other books and just go for the things everyone else doesn't bother to mention. It's usually just what I wanted to know and they cover it quickly and cleanly. I want to know how to do something, read 1-2 pages and ten minutes later, I know how to do it. I learn on a need to know basis. You can jump in anywhere, don't need to read from cover to cover. I find this approach much more useful than covering the whole application like a reference book or manual does.

Amazon~ Your the BEST!
The Book is great! Photoshop is so hard. I just know they could do a better job of making it easier to follow. Could make it much more simple than it is! Your still going to have trouble understanding any of the Photoshop books, it's a very hard program. I bought all the books, still I was confused...takes time. One class is not going to do it. Buy a couple of the books. I would look and see if they have a Dummies Book for Photoshop. I bet it might be easier. I wish I would of check myself...but I forgot about the Dummies Books ;)JulieSimi Valley, CA

Awesome tutorial!
I teach high school photography and this is the greatest and easiest book for everyone to follow along. Most book tell you what to do, but if you are a beginer, you may not know what they are talking about or where specific keys are that they mentions. This book gives you a step-by-step processing with illustrations of every step. There is NO way you can go wrong or not understand the instructions.

Easy to follow clear steps
This is the best of the three books I bought to learn Photoshop CS6 as it clearly describes the steps for each process and numbers each step on the screen diagrams which is a big help. I found they don't miss out on even the smallest detail and while it would work well for beginners, it assumes a reasonable knowledge of the basics. The 100 processes illustrated take the reader through the most useful and popular aspects of Photoshop and clearly illustrate the differences between CS6 and CS5, and there are quite a few. Plus of course showing you the new and fabulously exciting additions to CS6. As a quick, easy to follow, thorough guide, this one is hard to beat.

A great learning aid
I am a member of a camera club and have been giving advice to other members on the use of both Elements and Adobe Photoshop (4, 5 and 6). In order to help me further and introduce new ideas, I chose this book and have not been disappointed. It has taught me a great deal more than I already knew and has become a valuable training and learning aid. As a result, several members of the club have since bought their own copies of this book.

Pure Novice
I,ve worked with Photoshop CS5 for a couple of years, it was no surprise when I upgraded to CS6. Having watched numerous "Tutorials" I decided to buy "Top 100 Tips and Tricks" I have not been disappointed !!. This book is superbly well written, clear and concise and straight to the point, but without all the usual "Jargon" that simply leaves evan more confusion. This book is ideal if you need a foundation to Photoshop CS6, fankly, I would,nt be without it. Probably the best book I,ve reviewed. A pleasure to delve into. Buy it.
