While looking for a hairbrush on Amazon, I found this 100% boars hair brush, and thought, 'I remember those!'. In my teens and 20's, I used boars hair brushes and loved them. So I gave this one a try. First of all, the makers of this brush are proud of it - they pack it carefully and provide a special bag for storage. The brush is made of wood and has the company logo on it. In addition to the brush, they provide a matching wood comb. Both are beautiful and feel sturdy in your hand. The wood is smooth and polished.I have been using this brush for some weeks now and I am really pleased with the condition of my hair. I had been having trouble with it being limp and unmanageable, but the body, bounce and shine are back. It feels thicker and fuller - which is never the case in winter.I have also had problems as I've gotten older with strange parts appearing in the back of my head, which were difficult to hide. Those parts are still there, of course, but are almost completely hidden in the fullness of my hair. At 70 years older, I feel like my younger hair is back. My hair is white at the top which can make it look thin, but even the white hair looks full.I don't know why it has helped my hair, but the material does say that boars hair bristles distribute your scalp's natural sebum. I also think it helps remove some of the residue from styling products.I use this once a day before bed for around 5 minutes. I brush in sections - the bristles are short, and you want to make sure you make gentle contact with your scalp as you brush. I start at the bottom and brush upward, using the comb to pull sections down and continue to brush up and down between each section. A nice little scalp massage.This brush is not for styling but for hair health and it did greatly improve my hair's look and feel.

the comb and brush set arrives in a lovely presentation box, within that is a protective bag to keep the comb and brush. All items are nice to look at, smooth to the touch and well-crafted.there are written instructions on how to use them.detangle hair with comb, then use the brush to smooth.it states quite clearly that the brush is not intended to detangle, no be use to help style hair.I appreciated the attention to clarity for the first-time user of this system.I felt very strange having to "learn" how to use a comb and brush.I have used many a different type of brush over the years with varying degrees of pain or hair pulled out.I decided to give this set a try because I had yet to try this type of combination.there is a learning curve. it requires patience. to use the comb to untangle my hair, I had to separate into small chucks of strands to comb out the tangles and go section by section until done.I have elbow length, fine hair, that tangles extremely easily.once I had done this combing technique on three separate occasions, when I sat down for my fourth time, i decided to set a timer for how long it takes to use this comb to detangle my hair.40 minutes.that is a really long time.after the detangling was completed, the instructions tell you to flip your hair and use the brush to brush from the back of your neck to the tip of hair.aside from the blood rushing to my head, when you are done and sit upright, your hair, of course, is brushed forward in a manner that does not look presentable.so you use the brush again to brush it back to lay in a normal position.but because my hair is so fine and tangles so easily, just those two acts, now have my hair slightly tangled again.so I used my fingers to lightly comb my hair so it would lay correctly.I only did the upside-down brushing once. from then on, it's been right-side up brushing only.I do think the brush does make my hair feel softer.I am not sure if the use of the wood comb to detangle as opposed to the previous plastic hairbrush I use is an improvement.It certainly forces you to comb slower, which may be a benefit to your hair.but I only use the system at night when I can spare 40 minutes.I use my previous brush in the morning because with that one I can be finished brushing in 15 minutes or less.

To start, I have long, straight, and fine hair, it goes to about the middle of my back. That being said, let's get into the brush. Well made, sturdy, comfortable in the hand. The bristles are very soft, what I would call a baby brush consistency. This is good for brushing about mid-length to the ends. If you're trying to brush from the scalp to the ends you definitely have to do it in small sections.I think I might have to get used to working with it for effect. My other boar bristle brush is much stiffer, so when I flip my hair and brush from the neck it penetrates the hair to the scalp from back to front. This brush, being much softer, does not do this, so I have to go in small sections. It definitely feels gentler on the hair, and takes longer, but may be more effective for long-term hair health. Only time will tell.I definitely would not recommend this for thick, full hair.As far as the accompanying comb, I'd only give it about 3 stars. It is good quality, I like the wood, but the design isn't good. The gap between the teeth is too narrow. Even with my fine hair I still have to use a wide-tooth comb for detangling, and that comb is simply not effective for me. You need to double the width of the gap, that should do it.

The comb and brush are very well made and I do love the thick wooden comb. I do not care for the very short bristles on the brush. I find it difficult to brush my hair so seldom use it.
