Works well
Used a few times now. Heats up fairly quickly. Convenience or portability. Easy to find extra tips (uses T18 Soldering Tips, same as Hakko FX-888).

Easily worth 40$!
Great deal for 40$ , the cable is a bit stiff but swap it for some 4 core silicone wire and Its👌. 4ah battery lasts forever, and it has easy access to different tips hakka tips are interchangeable. It heats up crazy fast. People say that if you leave them on for long periods, that my be true but I will bet 97% of those all that's wrong is there is a thermal fuse in the iron. You can simply replace it of use a peice of wire im it's place if your not worried about it ! A few YouTube videos of it out there. So if your comfortable with opening it up to replace the stiff pvc cable with some silicone wire its an awesome little tool.

Great Soldering Iron
My old portable butane soldering iron finally stopped working. I purchased the Ryobi 18 volt soldering iron and I'm very pleased with its operation. I can dial up the heat range I need and in a minute or two it's ready. It will even warn you when it is cooled down and safe to store it.

Great off site aid
Got to do a little backyard work with this. Noticed it needed two improvements. One was the stiff cord to the iron. The second was a way of cleaning the tip. That said it performed flawlessly. So I upgraded the cord with a much more flexible version, and added a brass cleaning sponge for the tip. I wish Ryobi thought of this but...

Cordless soldering makes my day!
This soldering iron has been a godsend for me. I do a lot of soldering on 12v automotive applications and have found this to be a fantastic tool for this kind of work. This iron heats up fast, has decent temperature control, and again is cordless! No more worrying about snagging cords, very little waiting for the iron to heat back up, and if you forget to turn it off, it times out after 20 or so minutes. Perfect for remote work!

A toolbox addition that just makes sense when you're invested in 18V One+ batteries
This is a very inexpensive way to get a high quality soldering iron for electronic repairs (e.g., connectors, wire splices, broken wires.). It's also very helpful to have a soldering iron without a cord - works out of the box, and where you need to work. I've had it for a week and very quickly tidied up repairs made with twisted wires throughout my summer house - good solder connections mean safety, better charging and improved reliability. Highly recommended.

Works a treat
Slightly disappointed with no sponge tray but not what I was going to use the soldering iron for anyway. Works exceptionally well as a nylon melter with some hakko blade tips. Clean up and finish frayed nylon and keep it from further fraying without ask much risk of burning the material up with a lighter. The temp control dial is more fine than I was thinking, had assumed it was simply a binary temp control of low and high, but seems pretty good for what I need

Do not buy.
First one I received was dead on arrival. It would blink but never heat up. Decided to buy another one and sent the first one back. Bought another one off of Amazon from same seller and it came in and worked fine. Then after the 6 time using it i started having issues again. It would heat up but not stay up to temp. Then eventually stopped working all together. It was over the 30 day return so i contacted ryobi to do a warranty claim. Ryobi gives 3 year warranty. Well come to find out the item I bought was already over 2 years old. So Ryobi said they will need a receipt for the item do to the serial number said it’s over 2 years old. Well soon as they found out the item was bought on Amazon there is no warranty. Ryobi will not honor any warranty on any of there products from Amazon. This is do to they could be a box store returns being sold as new or used items. They only warranty there main distributors like Home Depot so on. This seller was not on there list of distributors.
