Amazons “Listed Product Dimensions” are Deceiving
When purchasing this tent, I did believe that the “Listed Product Dimensions” were going to be accurate in regards to the floor space. This is unfortunately an inaccurate assumption of detail with the Kelty *Far Out 3* tent, which is provided by Amazon. The floor space is not 98”L x 80”W like I had initially assumed. The actual floor space of this tent is 85”L x 70.5”W. The “Floor Area” detail listing of *40 Square Feet* however is accurate when doing the math, so I’m honestly still confused on where Amazon actually got the *Listed Product Dimensions* detail from to begin with. It’s not really a tent built for tall people, if you’re taller than 6-1/2ft, I probably wouldn’t recommend this tent for you. As far as the tents quality, I couldn’t be any happier. This is by far my favorite tent I’ve ever owned, and was well worth the money spent. I absolutely love how you can roll up half the rain fly, or pull it completely off for a fully enclosed screen room. Another plus to this tent, is how small, lightweight and compact it is for travels. I’m giving this tent a 5 Star Rating because I absolutely love it, and I can’t wait to use it. It’s a perfect size for me and my little 2.5yr old pup. However, I was a little disappointed, and was getting really anxious waiting for the tent to arrive while the tracking wasn’t updated properly by Amazons shipping department. I only got wrong estimated delivery dates at first, and several updates one day on how my item was running late. Still says my item is running late, even though I received it over a week ago. As big as Amazon is, I’d give them a 2 Star Rating for their lack of shipping updates on this one. Along with the fact on how this tent is now on sale with Amazon, after I already received it … go figure. Thanks Amazon (sarcastically speaking) 🙄 oh, and if you’re reading this while considering the purchase of this awesome tent. I do recommend checking the Kelty website for pricing. They do offer 15% off discount with email registration, I noticed this after purchasing this here at retail price of course 😤

Outstanding Tent!!!
I bought this Kelty Tent with footprint for my son for Scouts and I should have purchased a second one for myself too! The stake down points for the footprint, the tent, and the rainfly are beautifully color coded, which makes it incredibly easy and intuitive to setup and take down. In fact, we did not need directions for either operation, even the first time putting it up! Moreover, the quality of the components are very impressive. The stakes are high end DACs, which I would have purchased separately if they had not already come with the tent. The zippers are also high quality and I did not have any issues with getting fabric caught in them when opening and closing them over the course of the weekend, even with the rain fly installed. The rain fly also has clips which make installation and adjustment super easy. The clips are color coded too, so you don't have to worry about putting on the rainfly the wrong direction and having to turn it to make the zippers line up correctly. Additionally, the room in both vestibules is more than sufficient for gear and boots and the weight of this 3 person tent is excellent at a hair over 5 pounds! The other feature that I loved, when taking it down, is that with the footprint, tent and rain tarp on top of each other, it folds in half and folds in half again, before rolling it up. There were no issues putting it into its included storage sack, even the first time we did it. Some people don't care about details like that, but I hate having to try it a number of different ways until I find what fits back in the storage sack. I was very happy that this was ridiculously easy as I have had plenty of tents in the past that had to be folded a very specific way to get them back in the sack! This is a very high quality product and an excellent buy that my son can enjoy for decades to come!

Great tent with a couple issues
I'm writing this review while currently sitting in this tent on a camping trip so I can give you the best objective viewpoint. First, Kelty is a solid company that makes great gear. This tent is no exception. I bought one when the Far Out was first released as a birthday gift for my little brother. He uses it all the time moto camping and loves it. I thought it would be a good idea to have for that purpose too. However, I had two issues with this tent and I'm ultimately going to pack it up and send it back. One of them is entirely my fault, I didn't check my gear before I left for the trip. Something I always do but skipped this time around because I hadn't planned on taking this tent when it showed up on my door a few hours before I headed out. I assumed everything was good with it when I threw it on the back of the motorcycle. You know what they say about assumptions. Had I set up the tent to check for sizing and defects, I would have sent it back right then because I would have know it wasn't going to work for me. Instead, I was left with a "no choice" situation when I got to camp. Problem number one was that Amazon sent me the wrong size. I ordered a 3person, was shipped the 2 person. It happens, no big deal. Not Kelty's fault either and I should have caught it before I took the tent to camp and set it up. One of the guys I was camping with was like "will that thing for you?". I couldn't figure out how a 3 person tent was soo small and then I saw the pack bag and realized I had the wrong tent. The 2 person is small, but I vowed to make it work, I really had no choice. I did very much appreciate the much smaller pack size and weight than my normal tent (Klymit Cross Canyon). While it was small, the reasons I'm sending it back aren't just the size, its the durability for people of my "dimensions". I'm 6'3, 280lbs. I find myself sleeping diagonal in this tent and still really can't stretch out. Looking at the specs of the 3 person, it's not that much bigger and I highly doubt would make enough of a difference. Again, for the size and weight, I can sacrifice a bit of comfort, but it's really tight with a pad, sleeping bag, and all my gear. I feel like I'm staying over at one of those hoarder houses you see on TV with stuff piled up everywhere. The biggest issue though related to the durability of this tent for the big folks. Again, I want to be fair and reiterate that I'm a big dude and this tent obviously doesn't appear to be made with "Shrek like" campers in mind. While trying to get out of the tent on the first morning, I stood up to get through the door and had to really contort to get out. Getting in and out was a game of limbo. I was wearing Crocks at the time and apparently my weight on my foot mixed with the grip of the rubber clogs was too much for the tent floor and my heel went right through tearing a softball size hole right in front of the door. Luckily, Kelty includes a footprint with this tent and I was able to bring that inside and use it as a floor for the remainder of my trip. It did rain a bit yesterday and no water came up. It's also been pretty windy and this tent has otherwise held up very well. I really do like it but for a guy my size, this tent wouldn't hold up more than a couple trips. If it was about 6 inches longer and had a thicker floor, it'd be my new "go to".Pros: Great rain fly that clips into itself so you can have it half open for airflow. Small packed size and weight for backpacking or motorcycle camping. Plenty of gear loops, storage pockets, and high quality stakes. 2 doors is nice and the footprint is included. Got several compliments on the look and colors.Cons: Not meant for the over 6'/200lbs demographic. Two person barely fits one with a pad and gear. Floor is very thin and you'll need to consider bringing a packing blanket or heavy duty small tarp to put down to keep from causing damage which will add to the bulk and weight.I'll definitely continue to buy Kelty products but this tent was ultimately not for me.
