Heidi

A great choice for family viewing. Excellently chosen cast, amazing scenery, and it stays true to the book. A rare find in this modern world.

I chose this version of Heidi from the several available because the characters seemed most authentic. In the mountains, thanks to superb acting, directing and photography, Heidi emerges as the true "free-range child," full of vitality and charm. Her grandfather, initially a grumpy loner, warms to be a caring soul who shows Heidi the joy of living in tune with nature. He gives Heidi space to become self-reliant and capable. Watching her blossom as a person warms the heart, and this is what has made Heidi a classic story. The only thing missing was the naturopathic teaching that the goats eat the herbs that make their milk medicine for Heidi when she's ailing. Otherwise, the health benefits of living in the mountain air, getting lots of exercise and eating what the environment provides come through in a way that makes you feel healthier just for having watched the movie.I should add that the processing of the order for the DVD was prompt and it arrived in fine condition.

If you like the old movies, you will love it.

Sweet film about the power of friendship to overcome prejudice (city vs. country, rich vs. poor, etc.) and to heal old sorrows. The girls' voices in the English dubbing sound older than the girls who did the acting, but we actually got the film to watch in German, and it was beautifully done. Better than anything Disney could ever produce! German and English subtitles help students to catch phrases they would otherwise miss. Recurring motifs in the music and storyline make it an excellent film for discussing literary devices, whether watched in English or German. We'd give 10 stars if we could!

I've been looking for Heidi DVD and I found it here and my daughter was very happy that I got it for her. I gave it a four stars it's because it's not a full screen but other than that she enjoyed it.

My daughter watched this movie numerous times for free on TUBI TV. Then they stopped offering it. So happy I could get this dvd for her. It’s really a good movie!

This is such a heartwarming and beautiful version of the movie Heidi. I highly recommend watching it in German with English subtitles.
