This movie was filmed in 1965, so it is a black and white thriller with a very high quality in picture and sound. Because many of the old movies lose picture and sound, so it is not the case of this film. Besides has a great atmosphere and special effects for the time.

I haven't given myself the chance to view the disc itself, but there are some caveats for potential buyers: First, the back says the film is 61 minutes in length; the Amazon description indicates an hour and 25 minutes, or 85 total minutes. So -- are 24 minutes missing, or cut? Or does the wrap-around label list incorrect timing? Also: This, as has been mentioned in other reviews, is a DVD-R, not mentioned in any of the descriptive information.

The picture on the box, and the credits listed on the box, are from a movie called Nightmare Castle (aka The Faceless Monster). Nightmare Castle is not on this DVD.The image quality of this movie is okay, but not great. I haven't seen any other prints of this movie, so I can't compare it to other copies. The image quality is better than many other "old" movies like this that I've seen - it's very watchable.The sound quality is good. I didn't have any problem understanding most of the dialog.I'm only giving 4 stars because of the wrong picture and credits on the box. Otherwise, all Barbara Steele movies get 5 stars as far as I'm concerned.

This, like most of these discs of old Barbara Steele movies, has wretched picture quality, as if videotaped from a TV broadcast and then subjected to generations of recopying. I found it unwatchable. I don't think I'll order anything from that area/era again unless there is some indication that the movie has been restored or remastered.

I ordered this specifically because Barbara Steele was in it. She and the movie, did not disappoint! A must see for horror fans!

Plodding and predictable. I took me two attempts to watch this, and the second time, I had to fast forward about halfway through to get to the decent climax. I have enjoyed all of Barbara Steele's movies (except She Beast). This is easily the worst. Not recommended.
