Bye bye ants!
The media could not be loaded. My poor apple tree suffered last year as ants moved in; they loved it so much, they’ve come back with a vengeance! After researching different things I could try, I settled on this. I read reviews before I purchased so knew what I was getting. Yes the pot is small and seems only half full when you first open it, but I only have one affected tree so it didn’t matter to me. I applied liberally with an old spoon around the whole trunk and have enough left over to keep topping up if needed or to re-do next year. The grease is thick, sticky and went on easy enough. The hardest part of applying was trying to get all the ants out of the way! If you’re using to deter ants and they’re absolutely relentless as in my case and you care about nature as I do, I’d recommend applying at dawn or after dusk when ants are least active. The product was effective immediately, the ants crawling up the trunk were confused and couldn’t go past the grease. It’s been 3 days and there’s just the odd hopeful ant visiting, they realise there’s no way up and they’re gradually moving out. The grease even withstood a whole day of heavy rain yesterday and is still doing its job. Overall I’m really happy and there’s hope for this years apple harvest!

Works a treat - no more ants on my apple tree!
Every year my apples are spoiled thanks to bugs that crawl up the trunk, and the leaves are all but destroyed with ants farming aphids (which I only recently found out about!). Applied this tree grease and wow! No more ants, just healthy leaves and loads of clean apples! Great product. This small tub covered three medium sized apple trees.

Seems expensive.
Not much product in the pot. The instructions suggest application with a stiff brush or a spatular. It would need to be a very stiff brush & would probably retain a lot of grease.I used a metal spatular. It went on well. The constancy ( 20 degrees c ) is about right. Spreads OK but not thin enough to run. Star rating down to price.

Stops ants in their tracks!
We have a cherry tree that is constantly covered in blackfly that are farmed by ants and spread all over the tree. They cause all the leaves to curl up and make the tree look a complete mess. I have tried pesticides in previous years with very little success.I was literally ready to remove the tree and replace with something else but the wife wouldn’t allow it as it was a gift.I have now put a band of this grease around the bottom of the tree, and can see the ants trying to figure out a way across it, but have no success. While this hasn’t removed the blackfly from the tree, it has made it manageable and I simple blast them off the leaves with a hosepipe every few days. It isn’t a big tree, and now only a few leaves have the problem. Before using this, almost every leaf was covered and it was impossible to control them. Highly recommended - even if it is a bit messy to apply (I used an ice lolly stick)

It’s an effective way of controlling aphids without using chemicals.
I had young apple trees that were being overrun with aphids and ants. Problem solved, but you do need to make sure that you also apply it to any supporting stakes as those pesky insects are quite determined and will find another way up if they can. It’s not a large pot and it will need reapplying in a couple of months throughout the summer months when the insects are active, but as these are only young trees I expect it will last a couple of years

Black goo
Arrived late but we'll packed. Bigger than expected and plenty in pot for 3 trees and their stakes very sticky easy to use
