The Alpina Sport BC-1550 is a Super Sturdy Backcountry boot designed for long backcountry excursions. With beefy, durable, construction it is designed to provide great fit and comfort for all-day touring. A plastic cuff and BC sole give this boot great stability and control on steep descents.

Good comfortable fit.
Good comfortable fit. Locks into skis with no issues. Feet seemed to stay warm and dry, but I seem to be immune to the cold. Happy with these and nice to have the option of buying them on Amazon.

Cannot adjust toe fit adequately
Two disappointments in these boots, 1) it is really hard to adjust the compression around the front of the foot due to the stiff tongue piece that only allows for so much tightening. and 2) now that I have had them 2 seasons, I am getting bloody blisters on the top of my toes as others have mentioned (possibly because i cannot adjust the compression as stated above). Otherwise they have been fine, warm and dry for skiing in Alaska.

I feel compelled to write this review now because the problem has gotten worse and I can't go out unless I put on ...
I've had these for about 4 years and have tolerated the creasing on my toes over that time but with the latest big snowfall and ensuing multiple sessions, the top of my big right toe has gotten red and raw. I give it 3 stars instead of 1 since the toe-abrasion thing has been sporadic. I feel compelled to write this review now because the problem has gotten worse and I can't go out unless I put on duct tape over the top of my toes. The boot is otherwise comfortable, performs well, and keeps me dry but I'm in the market for a boot that's not going to leave a debilitating blister.

Toe creasing
I have experienced the same problem as the rest, toe creasing in the toe box area. Discouraging to say the least.

So good the mice chose them...
I'm normally not the sort of chap who makes reviews, but I felt I needed to with these excellent boots. They are comfortable, supremely supportive and very warm indeed, no matter how cold it may be outside and how deep you are in the snow. Alpina's customer service is also excellent. I found this out when our home was overrun by mice, who took up residence in (a) my best leather dress shoes, (b) my father's handmade dress shoes his job provided him with and (c) my Alpina XC ski boots.Although the mice ruined the the insoles, I spoke to Alpina/Elan, who sent me out a replacement pair. So good the mice (with excellent taste) chose them. What more can I say?

I just love the fit and it goes everywhere
I've had these for years now to the point where the side eye-lets have broken off and the tongue is falling apart. Purchased a pair of similar Rosi's at the beginning of last winter because these were beat but, 1.5 years later, I'm still using them. Read some complaints about the toe and would say that the first few times out each year I get some irritation on the top of the big toe but it wears in in a few weeks. A band-aide or two helps that. I just love the fit and it goes everywhere.

and they've been great..
I've had these for several years, and they've been great...apart from one big flaw which means I can't honestly recommend them. As another reviewer mentioned, the boots crease on the top of the foot just behind the toes, creating "toe chop", friction on the top of the foot during every step. I hoped with time and lots of layers the problem would ease, but it's not something that goes away after a break in period, in fact, if anything, the boots flex more easily with time, making the problem worse. I can only recommend them for short trips of an hour or two. Beyond that, expect to need some foot care afterwards...

design flaws
the lace clips on the opposing ankles can rub against each other and bend forward releasing the laces. after this bending happens a couple times, the lace tabs will break off. I had to weld mine to prevent this fail and had to use gaiters to prevent the lace tabs from contacting each other. Also, they bend in a way across the toes that they are uncomfortable on the top of the foot. It took quite a while for the break in to alleviate this.
