Great 3rd grade science workbook!
My third grader absolutely loves this science book! She worked through this book very fast but had a lot of fun doing it. The sections are easy for kids to understand with questions that she had fun answering. Also, it has experiments that were easy for her to do as well. Most of the experiments needed things that we already had so she could actually do them. This is a great third grade workbook! It is definitely not a boring textbook!

Great supplement for homeschool
This is a good supplement to our homeschool program but I wish the book had more explanations and background information. There is a little 2-3 sentence introduction at the top of each page and then it follows a basic worksheet format. The information is geared towards the intended age group, the information is easy for them to read, and the directions are easy to follow. The worksheets follow the material that I have set up for my child based on the Core Knowledge series, "What Your Third Grader Needs to Know." The book is non-biased (it is not based on faith) so if you are looking for secular materials in your homeschool for science then this is a good start.I like this book and I will probably buy another one next year for 4th grade but I wish there was an informational page on the topic and then followed up with 2-4 activities/worksheets for each topic. Happy learning!!

Great for basic info or for subject ideas for homeschool
Like many other reviews, I agree that this book is basic. That's not a big deal to us because I like to encourage my child to research. Which he does and enjoys doing so. This workbook provides the skeleton of information for him to start asking deeper questions. The variety of subjects help him discover areas of science that he didn't even know he was interested in and that interest creates a greater desire to know more about the subject. As a parent, I like that it is simple enough that he can do it on his own (most pages). I like that he has had fun doing the workbook pages - which surprises me because he hates to write and generally doesn't like worksheets. Each page follows a basic format: info paragraph at the top followed by pictures and questions on the page body.Every child is different, but this has been very helpful for my 8 year old, ADD, daydreamer.

Decent Support Worksheets
This is one of many workbooks I got to provide support to the curriculums I was using to homeschool our daughter during her 3rd grade year. Like their spelling book, this is more or less no frills. There are a few worksheets that have experiments on them, but I would absolutely not recommend relying on this for your base curriculum. It is definitely not robust enough for that, but is great at providing basic supporting worksheets. There wasn't anything she found to be too exciting about these sheets, they were black and white with simple, not especially engaging illustrations from her point of view. But from mine, they got the job done, and we found the explanations on the tops of the worksheets to be generally adequate.

It'll All Work Out...
I guess everyone's child learns at a different pace. I was kind of bummed out when it arrived and I realized that a lot of the material in this book was under my 3rd graders ability. I do try and make the best out of everything, which is why I will still find a good use for this book.I plan on spending the first couple of weeks reviewing some material from last year to help get the creativity flowing before we dive into our 3rd grade plans for homeschool and will use this book in the science portion. There are also a couple of sections that do cover material I don't believe he is familiar with and if I feel like the work is getting too easy and that I'm losing him to boredom, I'll supplement some of the material in the book with other information I've found online. All in all, it is decent for the price and I'm not terribly upset with my purchase. I also feel like other families will find this book incredibly helpful - it just wasn't what I expected.

Love these!
We love this brand of workbooks and this is our second year using them for homeschooling. The lessons are short but we like to use them as our base line and then use the topics to go further with YouTube videos and hands-on activities. These are great for the younger grades and the subjects like science and geography.

Genial
