Is this really for beginners?
First of all, this book is worth five stars. I gave it four because I think some of the projects are a little advanced for a beginner. However, it gives a good decription of all the tools and beads in in that respect it is perfect for a beginner. Also, some of the projects can be simplified and then copied as a person gains skills and confidence. I think in time the beginner could do all of the projects, unless they are really challenged in this type of hobby. For me it's going to take some time to get past earrings.

Good beginners book
Good beginners book. Even though all the information is on the internet in one way or another, it is great to have a quick reference. It also helped me decide what I wanted to research more and how I could inspire myself with designs. I bought this book used and it arrived in terrific shape--I could have mistaken it for a new book. Good purchase, helpful, succinct and clear descriptions.

Great Reference Jewelry Book
This is a great book for beginner jewelry beaders or just to have as a reference guide. I ordered one for myself as I'm just a beginner but then my mentor who has been beading for 30 years was "thumbing" through it and asked me to order her a copy. She loves this book!

Good reference book
Excellent book for beginners. Provides all materials needed. Really got me on track. Glad I purchased. Only downside was that it took a month before I received book. Provider really needs to work on response time. Don’t think I would order again from that provider again unless customer service improved. Thank you.

I like this book very much
I like this book very much, totally works for a beginner, explains the tools, what they are used for, how beads usually come on 16 inch strands, lots of good information and good projects too, I would recommend this book for beginners, happy Jewel Making!

Excellent Book for Beginners
What I like most about this book is its clarity. It's divided into 35 projects starting from a very basic simple strung necklace graduating to more challenging projects such as multistrand bracelets and necklaces. In addition it has an extremely useful "Basics" section at the beginning and a section at the back on techniques. I found the instructions on making a wrapped loop particularly helpful and I managed to succeed in mastering this tricky but crucial technique.I have several books on learning to design and make beaded jewellery, but I gained a lot from this book. The explanations about stringing materials, findings, and tools were much better than in any of the other books I had. I didn't know for example that you could buy "bead stoppers" - little gadgets for stopping your beads coming off the ends. The explanations and photographs were all very clear even for a novice like me and the Tips and Ideas were also very handy. I also liked he way accurate shopping list for materials were given so you know exactly what to buy. This is very helpful when first starting out because all the stringing materials, for example, are so confusing. This is the only book I have found that actually tells you the thickness of wire you need for a project.I don't always make the projects exactly as they are presented but I use them for inspiration and adapt them to the beads I have at hand. I have surprised myself and others at the attractive and original designs I have achieved. There is nothing as satisfying as creating a design that is all your own.I highly recommend this book to anyone who is an absolute beginner. My tip though is not to move through the book too quickly but to keep practising each project - or rather the techniques in the project e.g. crimping, using gimp - as many times as necessary to get each piece perfect. I practised wrapped loops over 100 times until they were always perfect and always consistent before using them in a project. I used a lot of headpins, but it was worth it because now every wrapped loop I make is perfect and quick!

Clear instructions covering a range of different projects.
I am delighted with this book. As a newbie to making jewellery, I found the descriptions of the various techniques to string beads and attach fastenings etc. very clear. Step by step instructions are accompanied by clear photographs. There are 35 projects in the book, covering a range of techniques which include earrings, bracelets and necklaces. I particularly liked the Creativity Tips section, which has 10 tips for getting past a creative block. This book is A4 in size and printed on quality paper. I am very impressed by it and will certainly look at the other books in the Absolute Beginners Guide series.

fairly complicated but nice projects
A fairly good book, ok for beginners. You need a LOT of equipment before starting any of these projects. I am a total beginner so am hoping this book will help me but in parts looks pretty complicated.

It will be useful if I go on to make necklaces
It is a basic book for all kinds of jewelry but as I only want to make earrings at present I found for me there wasn't enough information on these. It will be useful if I go on to make necklaces, bracelets etc.
