Very effective and easy to use
I ran a knife blog for several years; I’ve got a ton of knives and I’ve tried almost every sharpening method. I’ve used diamond-steels, Japanese water stones and electric wheel sharpeners. But this ceramic rod sharpening block is one of the simplest and most effective sharpeners I’ve ever used. It puts a very fine angle on a blade (as fine as 20 degrees) with two grades of ceramic rods that do their work quickly and efficiently. The coarse rod re-profiles your blade quickly, and the fine rod hones the edge to exquisite sharpness.I gave one of these to a family member, I used it, and I liked it so much I bought a second one for myself. My former go-to sharpener, a Spyderco Sharpmaker, is now relegated to the garage because this sharpener just works better.Fantastic sharpener!

Great for kitchen knives and pocket knives
Keep your knives sharp with this. Easy to use and portable. Mine is a bit snug tight so it is a big of a pain to plug the rods in and take them out. BUT, better snug than loose.

Holes kinda tight for the rods
The product works but the holes are really too tight for the rods. I had to sand them down a bit to get them to fit. The rods work well though and easy to maintain sharp knives. I recommend this to customers (I am a professional knife sharpener) if they want an easy solution to maintain sharp knives after I sharpen for them. I often have to tell them the holes are a bit too tight so I wish the manufacturer would fix that.

Works exactly as I had hoped
I needed a ceramic 'V' sharpener for my kitchen. When I received this little gem I was a little suspect. I had a different design some 25 or 30 years ago and the ceramic bars were 'triangular' in section. So when I saw the ceramic bars, they were about as thick as a pencil and thought, Oh no, these are going to be easy to break while sharpening a knife. But that's not the case. These bars are as good as my original ceramic sharpener. So, based upon that, I'm giving this gem a 5 star rating. I love the little wood container where all the pieces are easily stored.

Great sharpener
My son's grandpa used to have a sharpener like this when he was a little boy. He said he was mesmerized watching him sharpen those old knives. He said he wished he was given that sharpener when he passed. Nobody seems to know what happened to it. So when I saw this set I bought it so fast! It was his Christmas gift this year. I can't tell you how moved he was when he opened it. I liked how everything stored in the block and took up very little space. He loves it. Shipped fast. A+

Shoddy but works
The rods don't fit in the holes - you have to force them in, the lid is REALLY tight. It's clear these weren't made with much care or tested. But works. Meh

Buy the Lansky version. Rods don't fit in Holder holes to small
The Rods do not fit in the Holder the holes are to small. I drilled the holes bigger with a 5/16 drill .( now they fit ) And the ceramic rods are not the same quality as the Lansky sharpener . Manufacturer has no Quality control and they charge the same price as the Lansky . Shame on them .
