The right RJ-45 network connector crimper - no question about it
This tool was designed by someone who actually uses this network connector crimper. This tool is, by far, an excellent buy for its features. The main features are: solidly-made, heavy gauge steel construction aircraft-style lock nut secures the pivot point handles are ratcheted (ratchet release is accessible) blade guard to protect fingers outer insulation stripper for flat and round cable (blades are replaceable) crimps pass-through 6-pin and 8-pin connectors properly trims the wires in the crimping process cable cutter (all cutting and trimming blades are replaceable) fixed-length, wire-stop strips flat cable to the proper length wire colors and positions are laser-etched on the side of the crimper (EIA/TIA-568A and EIA/TIA568B) wire position 1 and wire position 8 are laser-etched at the crimper head crimps 8-position connectors (RJ-45) crimps 6-position connectors (RJ-11, RJ-12, RJ-14, and RJ-25) handles are comfortable with stops at the top to keep the hand properly positioned during the crimping processThe tool required a slight adjustment of bottom, flat-cable stripping blade. It was slightly too high on one side, which tended to nick the insulation of the individual wires on that side. The design uses two screws for that blade to allow adjusting it to be parallel with the upper blade. The blade guard was removed, loosened the two screws holding the bottom blade, adjusted the blade, tightened the blade screws, and replaced the blade guard. The upper blade for cutting and stripping is also secured with two screws to allow adjusting it as well. This blade needed no adjustment.I am very pleased with this purchase. A well-made, comprehensive tool that works well and will last.

This tool works well for a DIY home network install
As someone who likes to take on projects around the house, when it came time to install CAT6 network lines in my house as part of a home office setup, I took on the work myself rather than hire in a contractor. I ran my own lines to a patch panel, and then I used bulk cable with cable ends to make several patch cables to connect everything up. this tool was the one I ended up going with as it seemed to have good reviews at a reasonable price.I'm happy to say I was not disappointed. I used this tool for cutting the cables to length, trimming back the outer sleeving, and crimping on the RJ45 ends for my cables. I used pass-through RJ45 ends, and this tool accommodated them just fine. The tool was pretty easy to use, and it felt heavy duty. I've never used other CAT6 crimping tools as a comparison point, but I got great results from this tool and was very happy with the construction and feel of it while using it. I'm an engineer and have experience with professional quality hand tools, and this seemed to be on the same level in terms of build quality that I'm used to getting with name brand industrial tools.I would recommend this tool for anyone looking for an RJ45 crimper for network lines. It has worked well for me.

Here are tips they don't mention.
I received this kit today of the Passthrough type crimper too for usel with pass through RJ45 type ends. These ends are very close to being the only ends to use. The wire code for the round RJ45 cable ends is: FROM LEFT TO RIGHT, WITH THE LOCK TAB POINTING AWAY FROM YOU: 1st # 1 is, White with Orange stripe (WO), Solid Orange (O), White with Green Stripe(WG), Solid Blue (B), White with Blue stripe(WB), Green (G), White with Brown stripe (WBR), and 8th and last on the right is Solid Brown (BR) This is the most common wiring order for Ethernet cables. Known as 568B . 568A as I understand is more Commercial systems. TIP # 2. After you twist and bend the wires into order, BE SURE to push them and the cable jacket as far as you can into the RJ45 pass through type plug, the crimper/ cutter tool will crimp and cut all to length

Decent tool. Doesn't always cut wires in one go.
I bought this to rewire a bunch of offices. It works fairly well for the straight through connectors, which I will use until Ethernet is obsolete. I found myself often having to crimp twice to completely cut the wires that go through the connector off flush with the end.The wire cutting blade had a hard time cutting through the wires, and would work sometime and be difficult others. Also, I've never understood the jacket cutting blade on crimp tools. I could very well be doing things wrong, but every one I've used seems to want to cut through the cable jacket and through to the jacket/sleeving of the wires inside. You end up having to wing it and squeeze just a little when stripping the jacket. Someone please correct me if I'm doing this wrong. Also, how do you keep your hands from cramping when untwisting and sorting the pairs? Not a fault of this crimper, but I don't envy people that do this for a living...

Where has this been all my life?
I have made way too many RJ45 connections without this tool and am so glad it was invented.RJ45 connectors, before the pass-thru style, were so difficult and subjective. Were the wires going to be too short, too long? The prospect was daunting. With the introduction of the pass-thru connector and this trimming crimping tool, RJ45's are now a total breeze to complete and the results are so much more professional looking (for an occasional user).Best (wiring) tool I have in my toolbox.

good for the price
Good crimpers for the price. Only issue i have is sometimes the rj11 connector gets hung in crimpers. Mild inconvenience but I do rj45s more.

Tool did not crimp
Tool failed to crimp or cut wires. Returned for a refund. Almost three weeks have passed and I have yet to see a credit to my account. I purchased a crimping to from Klein which worked perfectly. Sometimes you can get away with buying a cheap tool but this time I lost.

Strumento indispensabile.
