An OUTSTANDING cookbook for multiple reasons
I don't even know where to begin. Not only is this a display book that you will have where your guests can see it when they come into your home, the pictures throughout the book are downright stunning. The recipes are simple, use common ingredients that you may have in the house, and are easy to adjust. My Mother is on a salt free diet, and has been able to make such basic condiments like Worchester Sauce or steak sauce without using the salt. It is so great for anybody with dietary restrictions. The fun side of the book for me has been making some of the items with my 4 year old daughter. It was really cool for her to see how eggs and oil make mayonnaise, or how to make ketchup. The tidbits and side notes throughout the book make it an enjoyable read as well.I have added the author, Erin Coopey, to my Amazon "stay up to date" list (along with Stephen King) so I will get an email when her next book comes out!

An excellent first cookbook for this category of foods ...
This is a handy book to have around. It is by no means exhaustive, but you can have better, more wholesome *and* cheaper goodies for yourself and your family with this book.So many people are surprised, when they start getting into the very basic stuff in the kitchen, how easy it is, how much better it is, and how much cheaper it is.Maybe some of these things won't seem worth the effort to you(I make my own ballpark yellow mustard for the principle, not the cost savings), but some of these things are so much better and/or so much cheaper that you will feel like you're slumming if you buy them from the grocery store. Some of them you can't usually find in the grocery store.I have a few book along the lines of this one, and I think I would recommend this one one for someone's first excursion into making some of these things.

A good book, but read the fine print.
A clever idea book on eating healthier. When I hear the term "pantry", I think of putting seasonal foods away for later use. This book is more about healthy alternatives rather than "putting food by." The extensive subtitle explains this well, but I must admit that I didn't read that carefully enough. If you are looking for "tasty, healthy, and homemade" then this is an excellent resource. Just be sure that's what you are looking for!

Fabulous edition to my cookbook collection!
I have been a fan of Chef Erin's for a bit and was thrilled to find she had written a cookbook on pantry staples. I checked it out from the library, read it cover to cover in less than two hours and was on email urging friends and family members to check it out. Then, I had the sense to buy multiple copies as gifts!I love how Erin educates her readers about ingredients. Case in point, I wanted to make the apple butter with apples I had received from a friend and Erin has an entire page describing the virtues of SEVEN apple varieties. The directions were clear and simple and the end product was delicious!I've made nut butters, three of the salad dressings and numerous dips thus far. Thank you for an easy to use and informative cookbook!

Great Recipes
I really like the ease of this cookbook. The recipes aren't complicated yet they are delicious. I have made the orange rosemary curd, the Asian ginger dressing and more, and so far everything has been very tasty. I definitely see myself using this cookbook for years to come.

This book is awesome. It has everything from regular mayonnaise (and several flavored mayonnaise recipes) to peanut butter, cashew butter, BBQ sauces, relishes, mustard, and remoulade and everything in between. Any one that is trying to be aware of and avoid "hidden sugars" and chemicals that are in the processed store-bought stuff needs this book.

Easy to use and delicious recipes
I am a novice cook, but I found Chef Erin’s cookbook very easy to use. I love her chapter on Salad Dressings. The recipes are delicious and the section on “Mix-and-Match Vinaigrette” helped me get out of a dressing rut. The information on extra-virgin olive oil was enlightening. I love Chef Erin’s pickle and relish recipes. They remind me of the food my grandmother use to make, but with a modern twist. I highly recommend this cookbook.

love this book
love this book. still refining my skills at making the sauces, but am so thankful to have a cookbook that specializes in making condiments. But not set up for Canning excess. It is to make and use right away. Would appreciate a book that also includes make ahead canning style recipes and instructions too. And would welcome suggestions from anyone that knows of a cookbook that specializes in condiment canning recipes. :)

This book is a disgrace. The recipes pretty much consist of "combine this ready made sauce (ie ketchup) with this other (mayo) and you have made a new sauce. I don't know if its aimed at the really basic, or those that want to pretend they made something. I would have returned it, but didn't want to waste anymore time on this book. So donated it to charity.
