Practical and easy to use.
Have only just begun to use the handbook, but I like the easy layout and the fact that it culled the most useful phrases and situations, making it less overwhelming to use. I know some basic French, but I need the help, especially since we are planning a month in France and I’d like to try to not automatically switch to English when available. This book provides good reminders of the basics, and what phrases to use in a wide range of situations. Obviously not meant as a master class for advanced learners, but a great help for someone like me!

Very helpful resource for learning French
This fairly short guide of 194 pages packs an enormous amount of information on learning French. Everything is laid out logically and is easy to move through. As the author states, “The more vivid the image, the more likely we are to remember it.” And so it is with this great reference guide. We get a basic understanding of French pronunciations and accents as well as the IPA transcription system. The IPA transcription is a standardized way to write speech sounds in any language. This was by far the most helpful tool I have experienced when learning another language. Excellent book!

To Learn to speak simple French phrases
The information set up in specific sections to address what I was looking for. This information will be helpful during a trip to different French cities in the spring. I hope to receive the audio CD in order to learn the proper enunciation aspect of the words.

dYou don’t have to be fluent in French to make it through everyday situations abroad.
This is the best companion study guide for a quick resource for a forest language that I’ve read. The concept of this book is not to be a fluent speaker of French, but to enable the reader to survive any daily situation that might come up by simply sticking to the context of that circumstance. It includes topics such as transportation, lodging, shopping etc. Each of these contextual situations are located within their own chapter, which is appropriately named. There are even emergency type situations included such as finding a doctor or dentist. I totally recommend this book, as it lacks the most punch with the least amount of effort.

Essential for French beginners
French is a language that is a bit more difficult to learn. However learning the basics of grammar and pronunciation can take you a long way. This book gives you the “IPA Pronunciation Guide to help you read the French transcription. ➔ A detailed Pronunciation Guide to pronounce vowels, consonants and learn accents in the French language (including their combinations). ➔ Basic French Grammar Guide to help you get familiar with the most frequent French words, such as pronouns, articles, adjectives or verbs. ➔ Over 3 000 common phrases in French, with an accurate translation in English. ➔ Transcription of each and every word in the phrases, included after every translation. ➔ Social Etiquette Tips.” I honestly wish I had this book when I was studying the basics of French in school.
