The photo editors choice
Lets get the basics out of the way first:LifetimeI last bought one of these in August 2011, and it died last week, which makes the 10, 000 hour lifetime appear accurate (10, 000 hours = 416 days, which is about 25% of 5 years, so for it to last 10, 000 hours over that 5 years, it would have had to be on 1/4 of every day, which is very reasonable assumption given that the bulb was in my home office and I practically live in it!).Brightness and colourYes, this does look like sunlight, and yes, it does look a lot more blue than other lights. The light makes reading (and looking at a computer screen) easier on the eye.The reason I bought this bulb, and the reason I will continue to buy them is their colour temperature and accuracy. The light colour is 6500k at CRI85. In plain English this means ‘the light is 15% short of being identical in colour to the sun on an overcast day, which is the colour of natural light we find comfortable, and which causes us least eyestrain’.In particular, viewing a properly calibrated monitor (for both colour and brightness) at 6500k often looks too blue under normal consumer lighting, and is also often too bright, causing eyestrain. Under this light though, it looks spot on with no glare. Perfect conditions for the photo editor, or for that matter, anyone who has to stare at a computer screen for hours. In fact, when my last biobulb went, I just could not bring myself to do any photo editing, as the room just made the monitor colour look way out, and the brightness hurt my eyes after a couple of hours… so delivery of new biobulbs has been one of the most anticipated deliveries from Amazon in a while!Note: yes I know CRI85 is not that accurate for photography (most photographic lighting is CRI95 or better). This is not for taking photos though; it is for a decent ambient lighting that doesn’t make a properly calibrated screen look odd because the background lighting is too yellow. A 25W or 30W 6500k biobulb solves this issue perfectly.

Fantastic so far.
I got this to use in a little Lloytron anglepoise and didn't really think it through about the size, it sticks out the front of the lamp a good couple of inches and so it is there in view even with the lamp turned side on! But that doesn't matter and it's my own fault for concentrating purely on the fitting part of the bulb when I ordered it. It gives off a supurb light and I can see it getting a lot of use for crafts and especially for my fly tying and lure making I can't comment on it's usefullness as a SAD lamp because I'm not using it for that, although I did think it may be good for me as a side effect of using it. Everything is so much clearer and I'm not blinded by the bulb, it seems to give out more light without being dazzling, also an unexpected side effect happened when I turned off the light after tying some sabiki lures, everything that is glowin the dark on my lure making table was glowing extremely brightly which does not happen under any other bulbs, even UV doesn't get the same glow factor out of my luiminous materials. Also hard to believe that this much good light can come out of a 25w bulb.

Lasted 2 and a half years, I'm buying more...
As my bulb has just stopped working and I looked up my order history to buy another I thought I'd write a review. Brilliant. Lasted 2 and a half years. Very bright, it's almost like daylight in a very dark area of my house. I've just put a lesser bulb in to tide me over and can see what a difference there is. I shall be buying several more of this bulb.

Good light, but it buzzes
The bulb is mostly fine. It gives off a huge amount of light, and it certainly appears to be a true daylight bulb. I have it in my studio as not only can it be a bit dark in there with just a warm white light, I sometimes need to be able to see colours in a proper light. My only complaint is that there's a very audible buzz coming from the bulb. I don't know if it's a defect and just a quirk of this bulb, but it's pretty distracting and I haven't got used to it yet.

Super bright and saves energy
This is my second purchase from the range. Once I bought this one and had used it for a few weeks, I decided to go for the bayonet version too, for another lamp I have. It's like sitting in bright daylight. Interestingly, my eyes started hurting and feeling irritated when my old daylight lamp broke. I eventually realized that the reason for my eyes hurting was because I had gone back to using a normal bulb - the kind that gives off a 'yellowish' hue. Instead of buying a new daylight lamp (which can be quite pricey), I just got a normal floor lamp and one of these bulbs. And soon enough, my eyes stopped hurting - probably all the strain at staring at a computer screen with the wrong kind of light. This isn't the kind of light for relaxing. It's super bright and has a 'cold' rather than 'warm feel to it. Reading, working... yes. And that's what I use it for. As I mentioned, I've ordered a bayonet from the same brand and both have been working brilliantly (pardon the pun). So yes, very much recommended.

Brilliant light
These lights are excellent, with very little warm up time. The colour may not be everyones cup of tea but you soon get used to it. I didnt realise how dull standard 2700k energy saving bulbs where until I got these and honestly didn't realise until now that you could get different colours-these are rated 6400k. When you want to go into a room just for a few seconds, say just to get something, these bulbs illuminate the room immediately. We have a kitchen which is quite dark on a dull day and these really do work well during daylight hours also. They are excellent in helping prevent eye strain and in the evening they really light up every corner of the room. Highly recommended.

Very bright - very white - very good
We've just had an extension built and we have 5 outside lights bolted to the walls. I was looking for something bright but that would not cost a fortune to run. Came across these. The light really is white - and it comes on straight away. When placed in a light fitting 4 feet away from a fitting with a more 'traditional' 18 watt energy saving bulb the difference is striking.I'm going to buy more - for outside lights - I would advise anybody thinking of getting for inside the house to buy one first to try it out - it's very bright!

Me encanta!!
