Seems Solid
I ordered this cot so my bed would not be on the ground while camping (there was an incident a few years ago where an obnoxious nest of ants swarmed into the tent while we were out hiking and decided to crawl all over and into our sleeping bags, which was so awful I decided to never put my bed on the ground EVER AGAIN!) For the last few years I have been using a zero gravity chair, but it has huge downsides as the arms are obnoxious when you try to sleep on your side and over time the elastic stretched enough to put me down onto the very uncomfortable metal frame.I looked far and wide for an affordable and comfortable cot and finally came across this type when a friend purchased a similar one. I have tried 3 other types of cots and here are the pros and cons of this one:PRO:It is about 20 inches off the ground, so the ants and other bugs in the tent can’t really get into your bedding without a lot of work (never entice them by leaving food on the bed!!)It is extremely comfortable- even without the enclosed mattresses there are no bars digging into your back and you are on a smooth surface. It only weighs about the same as a camping chair and only takes up slightly more room in the trunk of the car. It’s extremely easy to fold down and to fold back up. Due to a nice strap that holds it together, it is easy to put it back in its bag.(the mattress doesn’t fit in the bag and is vacuum sealed separately)It is made out of a material that doesn’t soak up water if you have a spill,It is wide enough to sleep on your side and long enough to sleep on your back. This one was about HALF the price of the one my friend bought at a sporting goods store. It doesn’t creak at night when you move around.CONSI wish the head area was a little more adjustable so you could also use it as a lounge chair by day. I saw one like that, but it was twice as big to pack and 3 times as heavy, so I had to give that up!If you order this give yourself a little extra time for it to come. It doesn’t come out of the Amazon Warehouse apparently. I gave myself too short of a time. I needed it 10 days after I ordered it (in my defense it was an 2 day Prime order)and it was sent by a different carrier so it was changed to an 11 day Delivery Estimate. Luckily it came in 8 days instead-barely came in time for a long camping trip. Anticipation of having to sleep on the ground while it sat on my front porch sent me into a panic, but it thankfully arrived 2 days before they said it would under their shipping delay. So be sure to plan ahead!I know this is nit-picky, but I wish the mattress came with a reusable carrying bag. Once you take it out of the shipping compression plastic it fluffs right up, won’t fit in with the frame part of the cot, and runs the risk of getting very dirty while you are transporting it around with the other camping equipment. So it’s best to shell out for a stuff sack, even though that means more money and waiting for a shipment. All in all I’m really glad I got this. It’s really nice to be off the ground! Take that, Ants and other creepy crawlers!!So far

Better than an air mattress
It worked better than an air mattress when we had company. We kept having to buy new air mattresses when the air mattress would deflate while being slept on. so we invested in this cot to try something different. We did add some extra foam padding under the purple topper to help make it more comfortable.

Colmerd Cot
I am 5’7” tall and 77 years old. I use these in a tree house for my grandchildren. I had no problem sleeping on one these. The cushion helps make it a little more comfortable.Taking them out of their storage/carrying case is a bit of a challenge. Putting them back in the storage bag is harder.Unfolding the cot and making it rigid is also a bit of a challenge. It doesn’t feel like it will hold that stable position when your finished but I didn’t have a problem with it folding up while sleeping on it.Bottom line: They serve the purpose for the grandkids sleepovers.
