After a search I finally found a DVD set of the original Shogun tv series, but when played the disc would freeze repeatedly. I was skeptical that this sort of damaged disc could be fixed, but I gave this Maxell disc cleaner a try, strictly according to the instructions, and wow -- no more freezing. Based on my one experience, I can recommend it.

When I was between jobs I put all our DVD's, Blu-Rays, and CDs on a plex server (a guy's gotta have a hobby). Then I started buying used blu-rays to replace the DVDs in our setup, and ordering new sets when I could find them on sale. Ebay is a great place for this, just don't get the ones from Goodwill because they are almost always trash and a waste of your time and money.We recently bought the Community complete series and when I went to rip it two of the titles would not rip. When I looked at the discs they had super tiny scratches that were preventing me from being able to read them. It read all the other files fine, but not those.So I reached out to the company I bought it from and they were working on figuring out a process to fix it, but in the meantime I bought a CD cleaner from Amazon. I had a disc cleaner thing that kind of worked some of the time, but it was really hit or miss. This one, for only $8, did the job. I had to re-polish one disc a few times, but it really worked. It smells like it's just normal polishing compound (and probably is), but for a simple kit it really worked well. I strongly recommend it.

Didnt do anything for the disk other than make it look greasy and take forever to polish smooth again. The game was functional with my old ps2 and the refurbished one will not play even after using this kit and it has no issue with any other disks I have tried with it. Overpriced waste of time.

Purchased for some DVDs that came scratched and skipping from the manufacturer. This improved then greatly, but some discs do still skip, just way less than before. If the discs aren't absolutely demolished, I think the amount of the cleaner could clean many more than two discs, but the cloths provided do start to disintegrate.

It doesn't fix all scratches

I had some scratched DVDs, I bought this kit with its 2 packets of buffing paste, there was one buffing cloth. You open one packet, drip out some paste onto the disc, then use one side of the cloth to spread out the paste from center to edge, then use the other side of the cloth to wipe it clean from center to edge. It was not enough to fix my scratched DVD. There is enough paste in both packets for multiple discs, but it is a very small cloth.

Hard to clean off surfaces that you may not want it on. So be carful applying it.
