Worked a treat straight out of the pack.I use this in conjunction with EQMOD for astrophotography, and as I image in various locations wanted something to make inserting GOS details quicker than searching on my phone, particularly in areas where I have no phone signal.First try was indoors, where naturally it struggles a bit for satellite signals, but even taking the laptop to a window meant it picked them up quickly and EQMOD pulled the details off perfectly.In summary this is a very good unit, for what I would consider a very good cost, and certainly for me with astrophotography location input, works an absolute treat.

It works perfectly on my Surface 3 / Windows 10. The first positioning was acquired in less than 1 minute, now it is as fast as an iPhone 5 or 6s, while the sensitivity looks a little bit better: in some indoor environments the Diymal acquired the satellites while my iPhone 5 didn't. It's just an observation, it never happened the opposite, but I didn't make scientific tests! I am very happy I bought it - I wouldn't based on the reviews I red, but the price is so good that I decided to try, and it proved to work flawless!

I'm a keen astronomer and one of the things you need to know when setting up your telescope is your location (in terms of longitude and latitude). My telescope and mount are controlled from my laptop, so this seemed like a sensible way of making sure that wherever I've set my scope up the laptop can determine its location itself. This does exactly that.This little dongle is less than a quarter of the price you'd pay for an "official" GPS locater for a telescope and if, like me, you're using EQMOD to control your mount, this does the job perfectly.

A great little GPS receiver at a bargain price. But it's important to understand that on first use it takes a long time to get going, this appears to be what's known as 'Time To First Fix'. However, after that it is quicker, mine takes about 5 minutes which is still a bit slow, but that may be because I'm testing it indoors 'Blu Tacked' to a window.The u-center software is a great starting point for testing, although the reported altitude is a bit confusing but that's probably more my misunderstanding than anything, it would be nice if the user manual covered the topic. Eventually, like reviewer 'Ray D', it will be used with EQMOD to precisely locate my telescope.

A little slow in operation

The specs stated this works with various operating systems including Android when I purchased it....it does not!!!. I then went back to item specs and discovered the description had changed and now no mention of Android. After research it would appear I would have to write Android code to make this dongle work, my life is not long enough for that.....

Worked perfectly on a laptop with both Windows 7 and Linux Mint operating systems using generic GPS drivers easily found on the Internet. I was amazed at how sensitive it is - it got a lock from the middle of my living room which no other GPS has managed to achieve - I usually have to take them near a window. Accuracy appears to be the maximum that can be achieved for a given constellation.

Great little device - managed to get it to work in both windows and android on a chuwi hi10 plus tablet that doesn't have integrated gpsUpdate: No good for vehicle navigation its far too slow. Probably not really designed for this so only knocked 1 star off. Accurate and works well otherwise

I driver si trovano facilmente già sul sito del venditore e nella descrizione di amazon. Funziona anche con prolunga usb 5mt. A questo prezzo impossibile trovare di meglio

Ich benutze diese GPS Mouse mit Linux. Funktioniert super, anschließen und los! Wo ich nur gucken musste war mit dem Tool "Gpsd" unter Linux, da gabs bei mir ein Problem. Der Stick würde nicht als ttyusb0 sondern als gps0 anerkannt also folgt der Befehl: gpsd /dev/gps0 Probe mit cgps -s. Und schon gehts los.Nun was zur Ortung selbst. Das Gerät ortet schon ziemlich genau, abweichung ca. 5-10m.Für den Preis ist das super. Funktioniert auch mit Kismet !Kann ich nur empfehlen, der Versand war auch sehr schnell.

Wie schon von Anderen hier angemerkt, nur bedingt für Anfänger und Ahnungslose zu empfehlen. Anders als auf der Abbildung kommt der USB-Stick nicht im Blister, sondern lose in einem schlichten Pappschächtelchen, zusammen mit einem Zettel, auf dem eine Downloadaddresse angegeben ist. Das wirkt ein wenig wie aus "heimischer Produktion" und nicht so ganz professionell. Wer bereit ist sich mit dem Thema etwas zu beschäftigen und im Internet zu recherchieren, bekommt hier aber ein feines Stück Hardware mit dem Chip von U-blox, der alles an GPS-Empfängern was ich kenne in den Schatten stellt. Besser ist wohl nur noch aus dem gleichen Hause die M-Serie, die es ermöglicht GPS und GLONASS gleichzeitig zu empfangen.Die Downloadaddresse auf dem Zettel benötigt man nicht wirklich. Alle Dateien kann man direkt auf der Homepage von U-blox herunterladen.Auf jeden Fall empfehlenswert ist das U-Center. Für WinXP ist das die Version 8.16 oder kleiner. Für Win7 - Win10 die aktuelle Version.Ich habe die XP-Version installiert - dabei wurden auch gleich die Treiber installiert. Separate Installation war nicht notwendig. Die U-blox Module sind für den Betrieb an einem seriellen COM-Port vorgesehen, daher installiert der Treiber für den USB-Stick einen virtuellen COM-Port, über den die Software auf den NMEA-Stream zugreifen kann.Im U-Center kann man das Modul testen und die Baudrate auf einen vernünftigen Wert von 57600 oder 115200 einstellen. Die Handhabung über den Configuration View ist erst mal gewöhnungsbedürftig, aber man hat es dann schnell raus wie man die Einstellungen erst temporär vornimmt und dann ins Flash schreibt.Bei mir läuft der Stick mittlerweile an einem RasPi, der als serieller Proxi fungiert und den NMEA Stream auf einem Netzwerkport zur Verfügung stellt. Hier kann sich z.B. OpenCPN die Daten abholen. Beim RasPi ersdcheint der Stick als Device ttyACM0 und kann mit socat auf den Netzwerkport umgeleitet werden.Fazit: Für technisch Interessierte eine klare Kaufempfehlung!

Der Ublox7 überzeugt mit Genauigkeit, einfacher Handhabung, guter Firmwareunterstützung und kompaktem Design.Leider ist die Stromaufnahme so hoch, dass der Betrieb nur an einem Hub mit externer Stromversorgung von mindestens 3A sinnvoll ist. Dies ist der Empfindlichkeit geschuldet, welche selbst in einem modernen Stahlbetonbau, den GPS besser aber noch dem Glonass Empfang ergmöglicht. Eine eigene Software für differentielles GPS konnte mit dem Dongle ermöglicht werden und die Genauigkeit von 3m auf 1-3cm verbessert werden.
