Brace & Bit
Stanley has a very good name for hand tools and this devise is a solid well made product with a good ratchet movement and large size bit.

I will never buy another contemporary Stanley product. Ever.
Oh, em, gee. This thing is appalling.1. The chuck has four teeth, while bits come with a hex shaft. That means the teeth can't match up with the shaft, so the chuck can't grip the bit properly. The mismatch also causes the bit to wobble alarmingly.2. It works if you can get a reasonable grip on a bit, but the chuck undoes itself as you turn the brace. This leaves you with the bit stuck in the wood while the handle turns fruitlessly. Good luck then getting the bit out of the wood!3. Both handles are cheap nasty plastic. The top one in particular doesn't feel like it's going to last very long.4. The gears have a low-grade grinding feel to them, like they don't want to be used.All-in-all, I wish I'd got an old Stanley one from a car boot sale.I hereby vow never to buy another contemporary Stanley product. Ever.

If it is a Stanley, it doesn't mean it's a good product
Maybe you ask yourself why the product description does not mention that the handles are made of durable wood, it's because they are made of a hard type of plastic. The top handle is not exactly in-line with the drill bit and the tip of the chuck has a space tolerance of 4 mm because its axis does not have a proper fit. The iron direction mechanism, which makes the rattling noise while turning the swing-arm, has no protective layer and will rust very quickly.Overall this is clearly a cheap Chinese product where there is no eye for build quality.Don't ask me if I would buy this product again for 50 Euro's...

I am quite happy with this tool
I am quite happy with this tool. It works excellently and is very comfortable to use. However The plastic handles are not so nice. They feels cheap and look cheap as well. If it wasn't for the horrible plastic handles this tool would get full marks.

Broke within half hours use.
This was my 3rd Stanley hand drill, the other 2 were lost. This new model has fundamental flaw as a pin holding hand crank to drill ratchet sheered whilst using 3/4 inch drill on hardwood fence post. It is now useless.
