Just a snippet of background about my 9 month old ‘Show’ Cocker Spaniel Brenda; to help you understand a little of how genuinely stressful life for her & for us has been since we first got her at 8 weeks old & BEFORE we tried this plug-in device. So please bear with me; this bit is important.Brenda has a serious case of Separation Anxiety, specifically with me. She would constantly HOWL & HOWL & cry whenever she couldn’t either see me, or even touch me. We could even be in the same room, but if she couldn’t physically touch me, she became acutely distressed & cry continuously. Honestly, I couldn’t even go to the bathroom without her, as she would become too distressed & upset.We absolutely do try our best with behavioural training, which is vitally important & necessary always. She completely mastered house-training within about 3-4weeks; which demonstrates just how smart she is & how dedicated we are regarding good behavioural techniques.However , despite our most sincere, dedicated & consistent behavioural efforts, Brenda was still constantly anxious & oftentimes very very distressed when not able to see or touch me. I’ve had many dogs over the years & I’ve never known anything like this; it’s extremely difficult & oftentimes very upsetting for us too.So, to this calming plug-in device: please believe me when I tell you that the moment it was plugged-in, Brenda began to calm immediately, she really did. She has settled so incredibly that I’m absolutely astonished! I really truthfully am.We have changed nothing else at all; I needed to be certain that this plug-in was the only thing that was altered. We continue with the behavioural strategies, just as before.Brenda is so much calmer, to the point where I can now visit the bathroom without her tagging along every time; though she does still usually sit outside the bathroom door waiting for me. But this is a vast improvement (she no longer howls) & we’re working on supporting her to be able to cope with longer & longer periods of time without needing to be able to see me.Sure, I’ll not lie, Brenda is still acutely anxious & does still howl when I go upstairs or leave the house without her. However, her anxious behaviour settled a lot, the moment we plugged this device in.So, if you & your pooch are experiencing similar anxiety issues to Brenda & ourselves, then I’d absolutely 100% recommend that you try one of these plug-in devices alongside good basic behavioural strategies.There are mixed Reviews I know. But I’m telling you with absolute honesty, that this plug-in has helped Brenda & her family beyond compare.Please, do give it a try. I appreciate that they are quite expensive, but the benefits are so wonderful & worth it!

I got this and the spray (for bedding) to help my wee Staffy combat her fireworks fear which has literally returned with a bang this year. She's a hyper dog, and I immediately noticed that she's calmed down a few notches. We're nowhere near the peak yet, but certainly after just over a week of being plugged in her reactions to the fireworks that are already going off aren't as extreme. In fact this is helping her get better by the day. Last year it just escalated by the day, so definitely effective. I don't think it's a case of problem solved, but definitely helping. I recommend for those having issues. Needs plugging in for a bit before to get into the atmosphere properly. Slight downside - no burning smelly candles while it's in as they just wipe out the effect.

For something supposed to help calm a nervy animal. Did not help the elderly dog we fosterd.

I bought Adaptil for our 10 year old Norfolk Terrier Ruby who had become nervous, unsettled and despondent after we very sadly had to say a final goodbye to our beloved 11 year old Labrador Poppy when she was diagnosed with terminal cancer in September 2021.Ruby had spent her entire life with Poppy and wouldn't settle at nights without her, howling and barking within half an hour of putting her to bed which had never been the case when Poppy was alive. She also began to sit constantly near a large window watching our drive, it was heart breaking, at times her grief seemed worse than ours.We decided to try Adaptil after a friend recommended it. We plugged it into the room she sleeps in at night and then moved it into our kitchen where she is with us throughout the day. The difference in her behaviour was instant, it was wonderful to see her calm down and sleep peacefully through the night again.We're about to bring a new chocolate Lab puppy into our lives - Mabel - and I am repurchasing a new Adaptil and refill as a handy back-up for settling both the new pup into our home and as a calming aid for Ruby again when her new friend arrives.
