Easy to apply, seems to work well
Treated the seats/carpets in my new car over the weekend, 1 can was just enough for a full coat (small 5 door hatchback), so 2 cans needed if you want to do it properly with 2 coats - still a bargain compared to the £400 the dealer wanted for the paint & fabric protection they were offering! Not had any spills yet, but had a couple of drops of rain end up on the seats when opening the door to get in, and they were beading on the surface of the cloth nicely rather than soaking in.Would definitely echo other reviews recommending ventilation and a mask - I did the car with all the doors open and wearing a decorating dust mask, but the smell was still pretty strong. Left it to dry overnight, still a bit of smell the next day, but pretty much gone a couple of days later.Fingers crossed for no spills, but with a 7 year old I guess it's inevitable, so hopefully this should make it a lot easier to clean up!

Excellent Product
I use this on our 'designer' sofa rather than pay them over £100 to use an exact same product. I re-coat twice a year and the sofa looks like new.Make sure you spray on a dry day, open all the windows, wear a mask (or cover mouth with a cloth cowboy style!) spray with even strokes and less is more as you can always recoat and area...do not over saturate. Do it as early in the day as possible because it's 8-10 hours before you can sit on it again. If you get a spill of liquid 'dab' it dry, do not rub hard as you'll only work it into the fabric regardless of any protection treatment. You can then carry on dabbing with a damp cloth or sponge to remove any stains. Grease (buttered toast ect) just lifts of with ease. icecream too. Remember to work quickly don't leave it until tomorrow. If you want to keep you sofa & arm chairs looking good and extend their lifespan, then this is the stuff to use.Worth every penny but shop around for the best deal!

Seems to work very well, smells like an explosion in a noxious gas factory
This stuff stinks to high heaven but i believe it is worth the few hours of pain.It is completely clear when sprayed onto a fabric so you have no idea whether you've got complete coverage but you can't have that any other way.Luckily no one has spilt anything on the sofa in the 4 months we've had it but i did do a test with some water and it seems that scotchguard is as good as it's word. the droplets just sort of collected and then could be wiped off.

As described, darn site cheaper than getting company to do it!
We were recently shopping for two new 4 seater sofas from a well known sofa company who advertises on the TV. We were horrified to be quoted over £150 PER SOFA to have them protected by scotchgard (this was 50% of the full price of the suite!). We declined much to the salespersons chagrin, and decided to look into doing it ourselves. So for a mere £30 for 4 cans of Scotchgard, we have sprayed our own sofas at home.Actually it only took 1 tin to cover a 4 seater sofa so I have two cans left over to re-treat at a later date, as suggested on the can.Be aware that this gives off MEGA strong fumes so wear a mask or open all your windows and doors when spraying this, preferably take the sofa cushions off and do it outside. The smell does dissipate after a day or two but keep pets out of the room. Also be aware that this is deadly to aquatic life so don't do this in a room if you have a fish tank.We tested a small patch in the back of the sofa and left it 24 hours to dry. It does not seem to have affected colour of feel of the fabric (a very light blue/green). It made the fabric temporarily darker but it dried back to the normal colour. I've not had to test it out yet but I am sure that with two young children and two cats the stain resistant properties will soon be tested!Recommended as an alternative to being ripped off by sofa companies!

Excellent product... saved a fortune. Strong stuff though
This is a quick and cheap alternative to paying for a company to apply scotch guard protection. Used on 1 large, 1 medium sofa also a footstool, rug and 10 cushions. Used approx 3 1/4 cans which is about what it indicates on the tin. Saved a fortune. Did a test patch and seems to hold the liquid. No major spills yet so cannot comment on that but I'm happy. Only draw back is it absolutely stinks. My husband 2 rooms away said it made hom feel giddy and as I write this I have a banging head. Forgot to open the door till half way through so likely my fault. All in all, very pleased

Check hazards carwfyllu
Applied in the evening outside when cool. Went on well but not made clear enough in the advertising just how hazardous this stuff is. Would recommend breathing apparatus.Doesn't really seem to have done all that much. Sofa still stains but stains do seem to come off a bit easier.

Protection against accidental staining
Difficult to review until you have occasion to put it to the test, which would be if something were spilt on the fabric. I hope that doesn't happen but if it does this should afford some protection against staining. I have had carpets which were scotchguard treated and worked great so no reason to believe this will be any different.I recently rcovered some the cushions on a cane suite. This was bought to treat the newly covered cushions. The product was easy to apply and was done in the open air in the garden. The spray is quite a fine mist spray so you need to choose a day that is not windy. I applied the spray in a vertically sweeping motion left to right then right to left. Then did the same horizontally top to bottom then bottom to top. There is quite a strong smell when first applied which lasts for about 24 hours but dissappears after that. There was no difference in colour or tone after treating the covers which I was pleased about. The fabric I have is beige chenille.

works but needs redoing
Purchased to spray and protect my sofa covers. I made the covers myself with untreated fabric and they are quite light. The product works, I know that from all the spills we have had, but the spills needs to be got up quickly. The only pain, but of course its obvious and not the products fault, every time I wash the covers I need to reapply the Scotchgard. Its a must have for light untreated upholstery.

Scotchguard
