Perfect!
Couldn't be happier with the Proxxon or the vendor, everything was on time & delivered safely. If you're serious about building terrain for your ttrpgs the Proxxon is a must buy. Solid build, easy set up & hugely versatile, 5 stars.I arrived here via the Black Magic Craft affiliate link, be sure to select the European/Uk version if you'll be using inside the EU, otherwise you'll require a step down transformer.

Best foam cutter you can buy
The guide rail is rubbish and wobbly. That said, this is a fantastic hot wire cutter otherwise. Feels sturdy and works well. Definitely worth it.

efficient kit.
Very nice piece of kit. I can cut bevels with no problems. If you glue foam together with a glue gun, this can cut through the hot glue too (though a little unevenly, as the hot glue takes longer to melt).I have made a large fort for warhammer 40k with it, and I have not had the wire snap once.Only suggestion I can think of to improve it is to make it easier to fold down the arm and pack it away. As it it there are several bits to unscrew and you have to put tape on the reel so the wire does not unwind itself.

A favourite of Youtube modelmakers
After watching many model-makers on Youtube using this Proxxon hot wire foam cutter, I decided that they couldn't all be wrong. It's a 'classic'. Okay, no one's going to say that this machine, or others like it, are 'perfect' but in comparison, this one seemed only to have minor complaints, the fairly low height of the 'overhead' arm restricting the cutting of large (tall) blocks of foam in one go, and the slightly wobbly 'fence'. But neither of these issues is a deal breaker for me, or anyone else involved in diorama/model-making. One can always pre-cut 'tall' blocks of foam before using the Proxxon for the finer cutting - which is the point really. This machine is aimed at finer, more precise cutting, rather than slicing out chunks of foam using a hand held cutter. The item arrived a week earlier than I was expecting, which was excellent service from the vendor, and although both outer and inner packaging was damaged, the item itself was fine. I did suspect that it was a 'returned product' that had been sold on to me, mainly due to the fact that a part seemed to be missing and that another part had been incorrectly assembled, BUT it was the 'incorrect assembly' and a vague diagram that led to the confusion and when I corrected the assembly, there was no missing part. So, all was good. I did email the vendor in the first instance, and received a reply within 48 hrs, as required by Amazon. The vendor did reply within the 48hrs, asking for photos etc, but in the meantime I had sent an email withdrawing my 'complaint' and apologising for my error. It was reassuring that the vendor did seem to be concerned, in the first instance, and I suspect they'd have sorted things out for me, or at least agreed for a return and refund had there actually been a part missing. So, if you purchase one of these machines and your wire spool is 'trapped' on the short end of the overhead arm and has to be removed and placed on the correct end, it's likely that it's placed there 'to store it safely' during transit, and wasn't incorrectly placed there by a 'previous owner'. Urterly furious
Screw required in assembly the screw just hollowed out like soft butter as soon as I used screwdriver on it. Now i can't loosen it to attach the wire necessary. So i tried soldering the wire connection on, shouldn't have to but okay. Not only that though but instructions didn't detail that another piece for the hoy wire connection needs removing and placing around the curve so now this screw is in i can't disassemble the machine to put it in the correct place.Utterly shoddy, its essentially bricked and useless because of a single screw. will never buy from this company again.

quality
A very well made unit. Sturdy and and well designed. The adjustable fence isn't the best despite its sturdy construction as it tends to lift at one end and there is deflection. I would recommend a home made replacement.
