Pearl Oyster Mushroom Kitchen Garden Grow Your Own Kit

Tonight I made mushroom stroganoff with my very own home grown mushrooms from these fab little kits and they tasted wonderful!The box arrived in no time at all - it looks neat and compact and sat nicely on my kitchen window sill. Clear instructions on the box and all it demands is a couple of squirts of water a day - this is a far cry from the flea infested mushroom kits we used to buy back in the 90's! The mushrooms emerged in no time at all - it was wonderful and actually quite astonishing to watch them growing bigger every day through their little window and in just over a week I had a perfect crop - or flush as it is technically known! There's a great novelty factor with these mushroom kits and I love the thought of reusing and recycling as they are grown out of used coffee grounds. There's obviously a lot of love which has gone in to this product and I did actually check out the Express Mushroom Company's website and even posted a picture of my mushrooms on their Facebook page! And of course, I forgot to mention - there's a chance of a second flush so bring on more recipe ideas! I love this product and it is also a great idea for a gift - I'm already totting up how many people I can give one to for Christmas!

This was easy to set up although actual instructions were not clear The first oyster mushroom grew well and was large, but once I’d harvested that everything stopped growing. I’ve continued to spray, but no produce have been harvested and nothing has actually grown beyond where they were after first mushroom was removed. See picture,it’s been like this for over a month. . Very disappointing and no apparent way to feedback to the supplier as I obviously had to wait for them to NOT grow and so it’s over the feedback period .

Bought these for my wife who enjoys growing, followed instructions on box and mushrooms started growing quite fast, amusing seeing them grow. But would not buy again because after you harvest the mushrooms which produces a medium plate of OK mushrooms, that's it, I did expect them to grow another batch but nothing happened. £18 pound for a small amount of mushrooms works out very expensive and not worth it, even with the novelty factor.

Fabulous gift! I bought 2 of these great kits, 1 for my gourmet sister in law and 1 for my chaotic, wannabe gourmet father, both loved their kits. I didn't see them till at least their second or third harvest, was amazed by the growth and the culinary results.Arrived on time on both occasions, apparently really easy to do with instructions so clear even my dad was up and running within a couple of days. A brilliant fresh addition to any kitchen, I might have to get one for myself!Great gift, great food and great fun(gi)!

On the down side, I didnt exactly get a large crop - just enough for me to pig out by myself - fry mushrooms in butter, add cream and a splash of brandy and serve on thick sourdough toast. But I so enjoyed watching the mushrooms grow from tiny black specks almost while I was watching them into really beautiful mushrooms. Just about to try for a second crop. Fingers crossed

I sent this kit to my younger brother who has just turned 14 and he loved it. Whenever I called by to visit I was witness to the burgeoning mushroom empire he was proudly creating in my mum's kitchen. The doubling in size that went on in the second week before the grand day of picking was fascinating to watch. I was invited to the mushroom banquet on the evening of harvest and I've got to say they were absolutely delicious! The joint team of my brother and mum produced a lovely mushroom risotto from a set of recipes which came with the pack. The whole process had a very satisfying end to it!I will definitely be using this again as an unusual and creative gift idea next time I'm looking for something original for one of my friends or family.

Bought this as a Christmas present, wrapped it up and left it on top of a wardrobe. A few days later noticed mushrooms growing out of the wrapping paper! It seems this is a fairly common issue. The inner bag was still intact but the outer bag had a large amount of mycelium in it and the box was ruined. Had to get a replacement quickly for Christmas so tried the discount code that came in the box but that was invalid! Ordered a similar product from someone else. Not impressed.

I bought these for my boyfriend's Christmas. Some reviews saying they were expensive, but I was feeling frivolous, and to be honest, he's worth it 😂!Once soaked, they started growing in a matter of days. They grow fairly quickly and have to be sprayed regularly (the box comes with a spray top but no bottle....we used a cup of water and it worked fine with the spray) but it's great to see their progress. They feel quite rubbery to begin with and are a dark blue grey colour but as they grow the texture becomes more velvety and the colour changes. First crop harvested today and sounded like they cooked up well!! Mushrooms are now in temporary hibernation for ten days to see if we can get a second batch.I know these seem expensive but when you research the process for preparing and growing mushrooms (either in coffee or logs) it makes more sense. Love the fact they are using old coffee grounds, which can then be used on your garden. Definitely recommend and certainly be buying again.
