Really good torch with super bright light

Bought this us flash light for inspecting the paint on my car, it was recommended a youtuber. All be it is bright. I don't think it's as bright as discribed. States 2000lms bought i beg to differ.

Great product that works well and great vfm

So I actually bought mine nearly 2 years ago (Decemeber 2016). It looks like the design has changed a little since then but I think my review will still be relevant especially in terms of durability.This gets a lot of use. It still blows me away just how bright it is, the pictures I've attached of it in use do not do it any justice at all. If you've not experienced one of these CREE bulb torches they are amazing. It's like having a cars full beam headlight in your pocket. There's a footpath near my house which is completely unlit at night, with this I have no issues walking the dog at night. When I zoom the beam, I can see right the way along the track. In fact, my ability to see distance lets me down before the light from the torch does.As you can see from my pictures it doesn't have a scratch on it. It has been subjected to regular abuse, drops and rain and still performs like new. If you use it with AAA batteries they last a long time.The only thing I don't like is the function button. I have to reluctantly mark it down a star for this. It's operated by a single button and the idea is a hard press will turn it ON/OFF and a light press will cycle through the functions which are full brightness, medium brightness, low brightness, SOS and strobe. What I find however is that a hard press will turn it off but when you turn it back on it has also cycled to the next mode. This is annoying as I almost exclusively use the full brightness mode but inevitably have to scroll through each function to get to it. What I would prefer is a slider, or twist ring which selects the mode and then a separate button for on/off. If the manufacturer is reading this, I would buy again for this feature.One final thing is this gives you some peace of mind when walking alone at night even in street lit areas. It's more than bright enough to harmlessly dazzle anyone who might attack you and give you a good chance of getting away.

As with all things, you get what you pay for. Given the price I didn't expect anything premium. That being said, it's a good bright torch for general use and seems pretty durable. I mainly bought it based on the price and the fact it takesan 18650 Li-Ion cell (something I have a pile of from old laptop packs). It doesn't come with a charger, nor does it have a USB charge connector like more expensive brands. Personally this is not an issue for me as I have several 18650 chargers already. It can also be run from if required 3 AAA cells using the supplied adaptor.The 'zoom' seems reasonably OK as such things go. Works nice an smoothly at present but only time will tell how long this lasts. The focusing lens on the one I received was fairly dirty when it arrived and had a finger print on the inside. It does unscrew easily though so I was able to give it a quick clean (which made the beam brighter as well). The insider surface of the lens has quite a few scratches on it but this is more a minor niggle than anything affecting the performance.As other reviewers have mentioned, the big let-down for this torch is the power/function button; otherwise I've have given the full five stars. More premium (and expensive) brands tend to have separate buttons but this torch combines them into one. A 'hard' press of the button powers it on. 'Soft' presses then cycle through the modes: Bright, Medium, Low, Strobe (a bit on the extreme side) and SOS. The problem is that when you 'hard' press again to turn it off this also cycles the mode, meaning every time you turn it on you end needing to cycle throw the modes again. Personally, if I could find a way to make it stick on full brightness I'd be happier.In summary, not perfect but in terms of value for money it's very good.

Brought this to check for swirls in the paint on my black Jaguar XF, it does the job nicely even in sunlight - much cheaper than the professional ones but obviously not as good. I use it with an old 18650 battery.

For the size and price I'm very happy with this torch, it's small enough to fit in your pocket or bag which makes it convenient to carry with you at all times and not have to remember to pick it up before you leave home. I use it to walk the dog and the zoom comes in handy when the dog is off investigating at some distance. It's also a solid build so could also be used in self defence if need be.

The beam and brightness are perfectly adequate the weakness lies in the switch mechanism. I pressed the button in today and it went in too far and the torch ceased to be properly operable. on examination, there are two parts and a spring under the rubber button which popped out. I took it in my house and fiddled with it a bit and eventually figured out how it went back together and it worked again but obviously, I wouldn't want to be trying that in the dark. 3 stars as it is good as a focusable bright beam but I would now not rely on it as a sole torch, only with another one easily available.
