Great - But comes with a warning!
This was an absolute dream to use. It was so quick to get a load of fence panels done. It uses quite a bit of paint as (Ronseal paint/sprayable Shades Willow) is quite thin. I never had a single nozzle clogging and found that the more you pump - the better the fine spray. It was all easy to clean after - though I get what people say about the lip inside the canister. Would be better if the canister came apart for cleaning. The BIG warning:Despite using on a non windy day; and using a piece of cardboard to catch overspray when doing the tops of fence panels; and asking neighbours to move their cars; I ended up with green speckles on all neighbours cars - even those parked 25+ feet away.Took me all week (evenings) to clean six neighbours cars using a special tar removal (Car) chemical to get it all off. So in reality - the sprayer saved me no time whatsoever :-(Ask all neighbours to move cars out of street!!

Works best with other branded paint
When this sprayer worked properly it was a huge time saver. I found that all the brand new Cuprinol shades paint I tried didn’t work at all in the sprayer, it just blobbed out the paint no matter what pressure, no spray. On the box it says to only used sprayer comparable Cuprinol brand paint, well I tried three different cans in two different colours and gave up to paint the old fashioned way. But I later tried some Ronseal shed/fence paint and it worked like a dream with the spray. Really good pressure and spray.Cleaning is rubbish, it’s impossible to get fully clean without using horrible paint dissolving chemicals, mainly the transparent tube and areas inside the container that are impossible to get too. But I do not think this decreases the function as most areas can be flushed through. It takes longer to clean then to use!I would recommend as it ended up being a huge time saver painting a huge amount of area. But be aware of the paint brand problem I had.

Totally recommended
Bought this to reward myself for offering to paint my elderly neighbour's fence. Once you get used to the spray pattern and get in a rhythm then you can make very rapid progress. Works very well on closed panel fences. I have recently painted both sides of an open panel 50 metre fence. This device saved me 60% in time versus using a brush only -this includes time taken to sheet-up around the spray area and clean up afterwards. Again, you can get the spray pattern and angle right to minimise paint loss and then brush out steadily to get an even finish. Don't spray too large an area before brushing out. It takes 20-30 minutes to clean the device. When I had to take an overnight break in doing a large job I avoided having to clean up by leaving the spray/brush head in a bucket of water. I wouldn't risk that unless you are really time pressured. I have only used Ronseal Fence Life paints so far with this sprayer. This paint is far cheaper than the Cuprinol paint. I am sure the Cuprinol paint is great, but the Ronseal stuff is fit for purpose and doesn't block the sprayer. Provided you keep this sprayer clean, it'll save you loads of time.

Works well. A good upgrade from just a sprayer.
Having used the sprayers for a good while I thought I would try the brush version. It works really well, has a good spray and decent quality brush and is easy to assemble. Much more convenient than sprayer in one hand and brush in the other. Was reasonable to clean but does take a while for clean water to come through when washing out but it’s the only way to clean it really. Just put clean water through it until all the paint is gone. If you don’t it will be clogged next time you use it. I know from bitter experience.

Not as bad as some reviews suggest
This item has quite mixed reviews, but if you read them carefully a lot of those appear to be due to those using it rather than the product. I decided to try it despite the negativity. For applying the paint, it's pretty good. You have to remember that the sprayer is a 4 bar pressurised container and you therefore need to make sure that everything is screwed on tight and that you pump to the maximum pressure to maintain an even spray. The paint for spraying is obviously thinner than you would use with a brush. This means that it's not very good on old wood that has dried out and is therefore more absorbent (looks fine on newer fence panels). The spray is also very fine, which means that there is inevitably a bit of spray on nearby plants, especially if it's windy. You can wash this off with a watering can if you catch it before it dries.Despite being Cuprinol, the colour isn't the same as for the same Cuprinol colours in the Ducksback range. This is because the paint has to be thinner. So if you're spraying a panel that's next to one that's been hand painted then it will look different. You also have to remember that after using it you have to clean everything thoroughly, which takes about half an hour. So what you're actually saving with the spray is the time bending and dipping the brush in the can ... but what the ad doesn't show you is the time spent flushing out the pipe, brush and container afterwards. On balance, worth having but in reality there is no magic solution to painting a fence, although you certainly don't need to get paint all over your patio.
