Impressive plug and play ready!
The Monport 40W 2.0 laser engraver is very well built. I was able to easily connect my computer, and set it to work with light burn. This is my first laser engraver. I expected something small to mid size from the pictures. It arrived and was larger than my expections, and I feel like this machine has sped up my production output. I am looking into applying mods as others suggested, and will update later after implementing with pictures. As of righ now I am happy with it.

Sweet machine
The system came in well packaged and in record time. Overall Monport has done a great job. Was very impressed with the system. Unfortunately I found upon getting it on the table I was using that the case appeared to be warped. Possibly in shipping or from the factory. The return process was pretty straight forward and am waiting to get another one. Will review again after it gets in.Second follow-upThe system arrived! Ordered Monday and came in on Thursday. The second machine was well packed like the first and there was no damage. The control board was installed a little wonky but I was able to get it straightened out ok.First test cuts on wood and acrylic were flawless. Great job with this Monport. Would definitely buy this again.

Nice beginners laser
This is my first CO2 laser. So far the only problem I've had with it is focus for larger items. The first thing that I did was remove the laser bed, otherwise you can only engrave on thin Pices. It cuts and engraves very well and came with the mirrors and focus lens adjusted correctly. So far I have engraved wood, glass and acrylic with very good results. Getting the height correct for thicker objects is difficult and I have not found any easy way to make those adjustments. The laser head in not adjustable for focus. To cool the laser I just use a 5 gallon bucket with distilled water in it and a zip lock bag full of ice. this keeps the laser very cool.

Its OK
I've had enough time to run this thing through its paces.cons...- Y axis is horrid. Where on earth did they find that crappy y axis motor, skips steps like crazy, appears to be pushing too much weight around after upgrading the machine with air and I can't find a replacement for the life of me. Seriously guys its just a little hose how tight did you guys spec this machine out?- because of the Y axis issue I was having after upgrade print and cut just will not work consistently.- exhaust fan shroud is right in the way and will collide with the head when homing the Y axis. The limit switch needs moved down the y axis beyond the shroud.- soldered drivers on the board.- Tube of white goo that certainly isn't for lubrication. What is this tube for?pros...-Great case, well packaged.- Controller steps are spot on.- Works out of the box with lightburn.- Easy machine to maintain.- Very easy machine to upgrade, lots of room to work.- Accurate with cuts that are not print and cut.- Price is right and I learned a ton about how lasers work. All in all its a good starter machine and I was able to cut stuff right out of the box.I would recommend it if you do not need print and cut. If you need print and cut, count on upgrading the crap out of this thing!

Best bang for your buck
I have had and used several small lasers and this was my first venture into CO2With most systems at this power costing thousands of dollars, I was not expecting much for the cost. This laser was extremely easy to get set up, responsive, accurate, and highly capable. While I may consider a higher end laser in the future, this was a perfect first step into high powered lasers.I have absolutely no regrets

Great but not for a novice
This K40 is pretty nice. In case you aren’t familiar with the K40, it’s a laser cutter made by a ton of different companies. Each almost the same but not exactly. What I like about this one is that it came with a controller that can connect to lightburn right out of the gate.It works well out of the box but I made a bunch of mods to get it to do more:1. Add air assist (DIY)2. Add a water cooler to keep the tube cold (DIY)3. Replaced the bed (so I can cut more + have vertical control)4. Recalibrated the distances so I can cut more5. Added a larger exhaust fanIf you’re a tinkerer this will provide a bunch of small projects in addition to being a useful laser cutter. If you’re looking for something that’d just work I would look for one of the more known brands. Those are more expensive but will be much simpler to use.

Machine does not work
Out of box failure. Months later I'm still trying to get my money back.I really wanted this to work but my first foray into laser etching has been nothing but a frustration.

Doubled my production.
Great quality. Ready to go out of the box. Seamless connection to PC and Lightburn. You will want to add air-assist and water chiller. Those are not required, but they do improve cuts.
