Don't listen to negative reviews
I was very cautious on this buy. Did a lot of research, analyzed the reviews and decided to go for it after about 2 months. Here's my experience. Set up went flawless. I installed the SSD drive, plugged in cat6 line, went to app and FOLLOWED THE INSTRUCTIONS. Wow. Amazing what that does.Yes you have to take down your cameras, hold the sync button til it beeps and add them. Was easy. I'm happy. Works fantastic. No issues. I went through the settings and SHUT OFF the notification while I'm at home.... Amazing how that handled that issues. Was it something to complain about? Nope. Maybe some should hire someone to install them instead leaving a negotive review when they had no idea what they were doing that misleads folks like me that wanted to buy the product. Anymore I'm learning most of the negative reviews are from folks who have no idea what they're doing.Great product. Works great. Thanks Eufy. Long as y'all fixed your major issues that went viral I forgive y'all. Good job.

Great for adding local storage, but disappointed with detection functions
I have 3 Eufy security cameras: one 2K doorbell, the floodlight pro, and a wired outdoor E200. I decided to purchase the Homebase3 as an upgrade for my Homebase2 for two reasons: add local storage especially for the floodlight and outdoor camera as they only store videos on device, and to increase the detection capabilities. As of May 9, the floodlight pro is still not compatible with Homebase3, so I will not comment on this until if/when Eufy finally makes it compatible (ETA end of May 2023). I will say that Eufy has a poor track record of meeting their ETA's, so highly suggest you check if your devices are compatible NOW, as opposed to hoping they become compatible "soon".Setup - The Homebase3 setup was painless following the simple instructions. I just want to note that you need an Ethernet connection to setup, but you can switch to Wifi once it has been setup if you want to locate the Homebase3 at a more convenient location. However, in Wifi mode, it will not support 24/7 continuous recording, only recording events. I had to re-pair the doorbell, which isn't too difficult. Just delete the Homebase2 entirely, and setup the doorbell again to the Homebase3. For the outdoor camera, I just have to enable "Edge" in the app and have it pair to the Homebase3.Additional Storage - I put an old 500GB HDD I pulled from an old laptop into the Homebase3, and it worked without issues once it formatted the drive. It works exactly as advertised, storing the videos from paired devices. As mentioned earlier, if you want continuous 24/7 recording, it only works with wired cameras, and the Homebase3 itself must be connected via Ethernet (not Wifi). I only record events, which is fine for my purpose. I can now use my outdoor camera E200 without an SD card in it, which makes it much more practical (as previously, any intruder can just steal the camera along with the SD card and any recordings). To me, this feature alone makes the Homebase3 well worth it if you use any standalone cameras that rely on on-device/SD card recording."BionicMind" AI Detection - I had high hopes for this, so I can add person recognition to my cameras. First of all, it only works with my doorbell camera, not the outdoor camera E200. Apparently, Eufy's definition of "compatible" is that some devices are more compatible than others. So for the E200, it still relies on the on-device human/pet detection and I get no upgrade at all. For the 2K doorbell, it adds person detection. I Ioaded the app with faces of all my immediate family members. I found in practice the feature to be entirely hit and miss. It never detects my son as a person despite his face being loaded into the database, so it seems to not work for children. When two people are walking together, it tends to only recognize one face. And I've had various unknown visitors (delivery people), and yet when I check there are no records of "Unfamiliar Faces". So overall, this highly advertised feature is pretty much a total disappointment. In the end, it doesn't really add any practical functionality to my setup.Summary - In short, get this if you want expanded storage, especially if you have cameras that are standalone and using on-board storage. But if you just want better person detection, I'm not sure it's worth it, at least on older 1080P/2K devices. It may work better with their newer 4K cameras, that I cannot comment on. It may also improve as they update the firmware, but I wouldn't count on it.

Gracias Eufy y Bendiciones .

Working
What a disappointment. I own several Eufy devices, and unfortunately, my experience has been frustrating.**Device 1**: Just days after the warranty expired, it began disconnecting from Wi-Fi on its own. A few days later, it stopped working completely.**Device 2 (Homebase 3)**: This device worked fine for a year, but right after the warranty ended, it started malfunctioning. First, it stopped recognizing the hard drive, and then it failed to connect to the internet. When I contacted Eufy support, they simply told me the warranty had expired and suggested I buy a new device, offering me a small discount. It feels like these devices are designed to fail shortly after the warranty ends.My advice: Avoid Eufy products.
