Mid range price that should be quick enough for most
Did not buy this for gaming but wanted an adequate mid priced laptop for photo and movie editing. Good specification for the price and does what I wanted it to do with ease. Boots fast, runs quiet and no more waiting for lightroom or photoshop to load. Hybrid drive is a nice compromise, plenty of storage and quick. Seems well made and I do the like the red backlit keyboard, should keep me satisfied for a few years.

Preparing for yearly fixing
I loved this laptop because I was able to play games and the graphics were pretty smooth in my opinion. I also used it for school and research. However, I will never purchase such a delicate and expensive item from amazon again because within 4 months the charging port of the laptop broke and so did the charger. Unfortunately, it was too late to return it, so I took it to a local laptop fixing store andthe owner repaired it. After the repair, I notice 3 missing screws. I didn't think much about it and the laptop continued to charge as it did when it was new. 2 YEARS later, the screen suddenly loss it lighting and went totally black. Once again, it was repaired by another technician and even more screws were missing this time. Something about this techician was strange. I will not be purchasing another windows laptop unless I have a manual on how to fix it myself at home. I am writing this review because 3 years later the laptop is completely dead. The power button will not turn it on. I work almost all day and some days barely used it.

Keyboard randomly quit working after 1 month
After about one month of regular use, I had not used it for about three days, and when I turned it on, the keyboard would simply not work. The mousepad worked, everything else ran right, but the keyboard back light was off and it did not respond at all to anything. I reinstalled the drivers several times, did a system restore, and finally did a factory restore, all for nothing. It simply did not work. I ended up returning it and losing $200 dollars over it. Extremely frustrating. Otherwise, it was a nice laptop.

Good Machine Overall. 1050 GTX should be a 1050 TI though.
Overall I'm fairly satisfied with this laptop. It can handle anything I throw at it such as battlefront 2, on medium/high settings, WoW, league of legends, dragon age Inquisition, mass effect Andromeda and others.Okay so the stuff I have issues with, with most games the fans kick on really quickly, and thats good, but thing is the y are loud and have a barely tolerable medium high pitched whine. If you put the speakers to about 3/4 up and or have headphones your okay but I'm not down with it. Next is the backlit keyboard, which looks dope by the way. Unlike most laptops this keyboard only stays lit for a period of time unless your gaming. It's cool if your using a power saver mode but if your in a dark room an FPS ya may have a moment where you press the wrong key. Lastly but not least, the hard drive which is a Terabyte of hybrid storage, is okay, but if you truly want to have a really great experience with this you should get an M.2 drive and stick it in their and install windows on it so the OS is fast. The fans are loud but they do work well and especially with the overboost feature.Overall I enjoy gaming on this, there's just a few things that I had to get used to. This is mostly due to me buying a pure Asus ROG. This shares the body of the ROG Strix but it's components are slightly different. I give it four out of five stars.

Sorely Dissatisfied
I have been trying to use my laptop for the last thirty minutes. I have been sitting here watching it update. It finally turned on after 20 minutes and it was so slow that it took ten minutes to go from the login screen, to the desktop screen, to the desktop screen with all my icons. I’ve had the laptop for about three weeks and have maybe used it four times, for maybe six hours maximum. I bought this laptop after extensive research and I am sorely dissatisfied .

My Son Loves It
Bought this for my son and he loves it. He plays League of Legends and other online games and has no problems. We use the upgraded internet of 250Mbps and will probably upgrade to the 400Mbps soon. Great Laptop and would recommend for anyone that plays games or streams a lot.

Good quality for 3 years, very sluggish by end of 4yrs
During the first 3 years, the quality and speed was decent. It handled The Sims4 and several Bioware games pretty well, but I'd definitely recommend getting a fan underneath when gaming as the laptop gets hot pretty quickly. The battery life wasn't bad but not noticably great either. It's also fairly heavy so I kept it in one place, which meant battery life wasn't a big concern in my case. After the third year, the Asus slowed down considerably. By the end of the 4th year, pages freeze regularly when online, opening and loading new tabs and pages takes a while. Game loads took so long it wasn't even worth playing them at a certain point. It continuously turns off whenever I set it to Sleep. Turning on and getting onto the desktop takes progressively longer and longer (5-10 minutes easily). Overall, it was an $800 laptop for 4 mostly-problem-free years, or $200 per year. Not unexpected given the price, but I'll definitely try another laptop in the future.
