Organize Now!: A Week-by-Week Guide to Simplify Your Space and Your Life

Great book for getting organized!
I have struggled for years to clear my home of clutter. There never seems to be enough time, space, etc. I have ADHD, so that doesn't help. I'll begin decluttering one area, only to think of six more I should work on at the same time. I work full-time, and have a 16 month old and a 12 year old. Time is at a premium in my house. I work twelve hour swing shifts, so every week brings a new work schedule and a different shift. Add to that cooking, errands, grocery shopping, paying bills, balancing the household budget, cleaning, quality time with the family, football and baseball practice and games..... Life quickly takes over and the house is a mess yet again. any progress made is quickly struck down.I have read through many of the chapters in this book. Each one is a week's worth of "to-do" checklists, and is designed to organize one area each week. You can do the chapters in the order they appear in the book, or you can skip around and do them in the order you choose.I think this book will be one of the keys to getting my house, and life, organized. The checklists should make it easy to get things in better shape. I can focus on one mini-task until it is complete, helping me achieve my goal of getting our home and lives into the shape it should be in. I can just tell myself that I can't move on to the next task until that box is checked. Any ideas on other tasks can be added to the list. This book should serve as excellent guidance along my purging journey.I do think that some of these tasks will take less than the allotted week. However, in my house, some of these areas will take more than a week to get through. I think it will be harder for families with parents who work, in or out of the home, to get each area done in seven days. Some of these areas are quite large for just one week. I think, though, that it will all even out in the end. My goal is to finish the entire book in 56 weeks or less, even if a few areas take two weeks to complete. Some areas will be easier for me. For instance, I already meal plan and have a system set up for grocery lists, coupons, etc. I can mark this area off fairly easy. My bedroom closets, however, will take some real effort to overcome. All in all, this book is worth buying. The easy-to-follow format and having each area broken down into individual chapters makes this look easy.

Organized organizer!
There's not a whole lot of tips in here I hadn't thought of myself, but if I were to attempt to write down everything I'd need to do in order to organize my home and life, I'd probably end up with this book. All the information and tips you need to get organized is right here in one convenient place. Well worth the money I think as it has saved me lots of valuable time not having to organize my thoughts on organization before I can get started. The author clearly has a mindset towards minimalism which is not greatly elaborated upon before jumping straight into your organizaiton to-do lists (there are a few pages of common sense stuff), you pretty much already have to know WHY, for yourself, you want to be rid of the JUNK in your house so you are not tempted to balk at the suggestion to get rid of your precious hotel toiletries collection and such. Make sure to buy yourself a good personal planner with this book.

It's simple and
It is helpful for basic topics. It's simple. The checklist are good recommendations. Some topics don't apply to me.It would be cool to have other topics including college, health (exercise, healthy eating, emotional health, etc), employment, self care/personal development, family life and lifestyle decluttering books. I think having those topics will help support the books she has already written. I would recommend that she does a emotional health and physical health next because those two topics are very hot topics for a while now.

Covers so many areas of organization!
This book is great - it has been so helpful in keeping me on track while I go through all my things in preparation for a big move across the country. It covers a lot of material, but is concise. Wonderful for referencing without getting distracted. This is one of the more action-oriented organization books I've found. Some of the others are too wordy. I don't want to have to read the entire book to organize my paperwork. I want to look at the Table of Contents, find the area I am concentrating on, then read the "nuggets" of ways to strategically organize that area. I don't have time for the psychoanalysis of why organization can be difficult. I need a list of tips and helpful check lists.

Great book!
This book is really terrific because it causes you to think about your situation. It has really great ideas, but it doesn't pigeon-hole into a specific set of plans. It breaks down the chore of organizing into compartments that you can focus on a week at a time, and can do any week in any order you choose. I came across this book while looking for a simplified bill pay solution and I am so glad I purchased this book. As a result I have a bill payment solution that is confined to a small tote that really works for me. I'm now working on getting my craft area organized and can hardly wait to get that done to start on my closet!

The best book ever
I bought this one as a gift for a friend. I went through the older green covered one page by page. It takes one year but your house, car and life are organized and maintained as such. I love to organize so doubted this would be helpful, but the format and simplicity and listing of every step is so helpful. Breaking it down to one task a week makes organization doable.

Simple and straightforward not very ground breaking
I'm not sure if I was expecting more because of the presentation/description of the book. Or if I just have unreasonable standards. The book provides a list of areas that you can focus on for organizing, breaking them down into weekly categories to focus on.It seems the idea is to focus on each category in sequence and over the course of a year, you'll have a wholistic plan for organizing. The categories could be more in depth, seeing that you're supposed to take a week to implement each. It's a good start but the rest is up to the individual to fill in the blanks.

Something for everyone
I like this book immensely; in fact it's the only thing I've bought from Amazon I've been moved enough to write a review for.I like the cover, the colour, the typeset. Just for starters I find it immensely appealing. And then I started reading and WOW. This book is written by someone who is genuinely busy. A business owner who has children I can identify with. Each page is packed full of more ideas than I could probably implement in a lifetime, but how can you have too much information? :) Best read with a notebook and pen in hand. The tone is matter of fact, with more than a passing nod to caring for the environment. And full of common sense too. I keep reading things and thinking 'd'oh, why didn't I think of that?'Excellent stuff :)

Goes through every aspect of your home and organises it!Slightly Americanized but you can adapt it. Worth reading if you want to organise your home completely and you can just cherry pick the bits you want as it is set out room by room
