Tuttle Concise Tagalog Dictionary: Tagalog-English English-Tagalog (over 20,000 entries)

Good concise Tagalog dictionary (just double-check to make sure this has what you're looking for)
I lost my old Tagalog-English/English-Tagalog dictionary because it got water-damaged, so I wanted an ebook that wasn't susceptible to wear-and-tear and that I could carry around using my Kindle. I got the Tuttle Concise Tagalog Dictionary as a replacement; and I'm glad I did. I grew up in the United States, but my parents used Tagalog at home (I, however, spoke English), so I've always had a decent understanding of Tagalog. I've spent time over the past several years deepening my understanding of this wonderful language; and dictionaries like this one have been a valuable resource. Another nice feature of this dictionary is it gives pronunciations for the different words, which is especially useful for new words you don't often hear.Although I find this dictionary useful, I have one caveat:: This is a concise dictionary. Judgments had to be made in terms of what to include. For example, the Tagalog word "yamang" also means "because", but that translation isn't included in this ebook. More importantly, common object-focused Tagalog verbs (eg, gawin (to do; to make), sabihin (to say; to tell), bigyan (to give), bilhin (to purchase), batiin (to greet), gamitin (to use), etc), which are frequently used, don't have entries. Often, only the past tense forms are listed (as opposed to the infinitives). Partially, this seems to be because listings center around root-words, which is probably the only feasible way to create a concise Tagalog-English/English-Tagalog dictionary. Also, there aren't complete verb conjugations (past, present/in process, future) for each verb. To me, these are minor things, but if you're looking for a really comprehensive (ie, not concise) Tagalog-English/English-Tagalog dictionary, you may want to double-check to make sure this ebook is for you. If you've already got a decent handle on Tagalog and just want a quick reference for that word you've never heard or seen before (or if you just want to expand your vocabulary of Tagalog words), this ebook (supplemented as needed by online resources) should be all you really need.

Cute but small
This is a very nice book. The font was a bit small for me at about 11. The book format size was small also at about 3 1/2" x 5". Other than that, it is very colorful, and inviting. If my eyes were a bit better it would have been great.

Concise, like it says
I use this in my classroom for my ELL learners, to supplement their understanding. It has come in real handy for test time, when I can't use tech to Translate.

A really good dictionary
This little dictionary is remarkable. It not only lists thousands of words, it also gives helpful extra information about words, lists derivatives, and gives clear distinctions between alternative meanings. Astonishing that so much high quality has been crammed into such a small volume at such a reasonable price. Strongly recommended.

Very concise, but useful
Wish they would have included accent marks to indicate stress on words, but the pronunciations are included nonetheless.
