works perfectly on am5 platform. truly, plug and play.
WARNING: towards the end of this review i list a really troubling concern about other products that are suppose to do what this one does. please be sure to read it!u may have heard that many of the newest motherboards don't always work well with the pice sata expansion cards. that was certainly my experience with my asus x670e-e motherboard. mobo manufacturers have also decided to limit the number of sata ports their boards offer to only their more expensive boards. well, this little product is the answer to all of those problems. it is truly plug and play for windows 10 and 11. i haven't tested it on 7 but i'd guess it works on that too. there are no drivers that need downloading and no changes that need to be made in your bios, as long as u have not disabled any of your m.2 slots. i recommend putting this into one of your gen 4 m.2 slots so that u don't chance making your gpu run in x8 mode. WARNING: there are other much cheaper versions of a product similar to this one that are suppose to do the same thing but i read too many reviews of it failing and burning out that m.2 slot on the motherboard. so i went with this expensive one. i would advise everyone else to do the same. i have tested my hard drives with them connected through this device and with them connected to the motherboards native ports and i have seen no speed difference in crystal disk mark. so, i highly recommend this product. i have read some complaints about how the blue leds are too bright on this product. i keep my pc where i can not see them and it will eventually have solid side panels on it when i get finished with it. so i can not speak to that issue but, it is something to keep in mind.

Incredible for us data hoarders
I am growing increasingly annoyed with the lack of SATA ports on modern motherboards. Some x670 motherboards only have TWO for christs sakes!Additionally, with large graphics cards, mainstream motherboards often have most of their pcie slots blocked, so you can’t go the old SAS card route, either.I did not know adapters like these existed, of course I bought two for the coming SATApolcalpyse. They work great, plug and play, no issues at all. All 5 drives show up and format/read/write perfectly. My only problem with them are the super bright blue leds that indicate the ports are working/used. Gonna tape over them with electrical tape. Other than that these are incredible.Silverstone is looking out for file copying enthusiasts like me.

It works fine!
Just finished building an upgraded pc and realized I needed more sata ports. Opted for this ssd slot add-on adapter and it just fit under the video card, just barely, leaving 3 slots open which is all I needed. Thanks for a fine product and prompt delivery.

Great for NAS Builds!
Recently built a new NAS and wanted a low profile way to add more SATA ports without sacrificing my only PCIe x 16 slot. So far so good, ran a parity sync with 3 drives attached and sustained roughly a 250+MB/s read speed, per drive, for several hours without a drive dropping offline. I was concerned loading this adapter up and hitting all the drives at once would be an issue. I'll update my review in the future once I do just that and test it out. So far so good!Pros:- Has metal shroud for rigidity to reduce the chance you accidentally snap the PCB when inserting your cables.- JBM585 SATA Controller with a Heatsink to keep it from burning up.- Made by SilverStone, a reputable company.Cons:- Slightly more expensive but I think the pros justify the cost.- Blue LEDs that are brighter than the sun.

Does not work the way its advertised
I purchased this to expand my drives because i had 2 hard drives 3TB just laying around. i installed it on the motherboard and was expecting it to work right out of the box. But was disappointed when all it would work with was one drive. I went into Disk management and it saw both drives but would not do anything with the second drive because it said was unrecognizable. I downloaded Western digital software, and it would not recognize either one. I tried 2 other hard drives (Seagate's) and it was the same. Seagate software did recognize one drive like Microsoft did. Silverstone is a good company and i was expecting more from them than i was one of those throw away products. but it seems that their R&D department let them down on this one. there are no drivers or software that helps this product work better. It only depends on the Motherboard manufacture to see it and work. that does not happen in this day & age when there are more motherboards with different BIOS and configuration. if you think about it they developed a product that works on a M.2 slot with 5 Sata ports, the manufacture has only developed it to work with 1 Sata connection. It seems that the product has a firmware problem to compensate for it (not sure). Mne did not work and i tried everything, changing the bios reading the motherboard book, checking the product web site. What i found was that there have been a few people disappointed in this product. So check it out before you buy it. i really wish that Silverstone fixes this instead of rushing it out on the market for us to try it for them. They are a good company just dissatisfied with this one

Cheap quality, works OK
Decent enough way to connect multiple SATA drives to an open slot. Very cheap build quality though, the SATA connector clips snap right off with any latching cable. Do it right and just get a proper LSI controller. They’re cheaper, too.

Easy SATA expansion.
Super easy plug and play sata expansion. If your motherboard doesn’t have enough sata ports for your drives or peripherals this is a simple solution. Was 100% plug and play on an Aorus Z790 Elite AX and Win11. The heatsink around it doesn’t really play well with certain styles of m.2 retention clips so be mindful during install.
