good brakes
Overall good brakes. I did not need the brake levers since i'm putting these on an electric bike and need ones with cut off sensors. The cables are very good quality.

Good Kit
The levers were a pain to get on...kind of what you want because they won't just come off easy. The lines are decent, even though I ruined the back by cutting from the wrong end. For your benefit, make sure you start your measurement of the new line from the round end. You do not keep the ends with the metal crimps, but you must have the round ends at the front for the levers. The calipers go on perfect, but there is a difference in thread length between front and back. You'll need to know that or you may think you got the wrong set. You'll need to loosen and maneuver the brake pads so when compressed, they are making contact with the rim just beneath the tire, triangular side up.Overall it was a good value. The brakes have alot of bite.

Good quality brakes
These brakes seem very high quality for the price, and they look and work great. They don't come with instructions, so I would recommend watching a video on bike brake installation if you've never done it before. If you have some mechanical ability, the install is pretty straightforward. The biggest puzzle in my mind in looking at the pieces was, "How am I supposed to get the steel cable slid through the sleeve and the little hole in the yoke on the brake, when it already has little fittings crimped onto both ends?" Well, counterintuitive as it may seem, you just have to cut off one of the ends (the mushroom-shaped one, not the round one, the round one goes into the brake lever on the handlebar). Then it all falls into place.Adjusting them is a little fiddly, but that's true of all new brakes on a bike. Again, watching a video will help if you're a rookie at this like me. I got them installed and working perfectly with only a little cussing and head-scratching. I only needed the back brake from the kit, and it stops the wheel instantly. Large brake pads made of a durable, grippy rubber have great friction on the rim.The tools you need are an 8mm and a 10mm wrench or socket (for everything on the caliper), a 4mm allen (hex-head) wrench (for the brake lever on the handlebar), a vise-grip pliers (makes it easier to do final cable tension adjustment by holding the caliper partially closed (pads close to the wheels) for you while you adjust and tighten the cable), and a pliers to get a good grip on the end of the cable to pull it snug when doing the final adjustment.Be advised that you will have to remove the handgrip from the handlebar to slide the new brake lever on. The lever in the kit doesn't have a hinged mounting ring. I had to cut the grip off because it was so tight and snug there was no other way to remove it, plus, the old grips were pretty worn anyway. So I would say, just order a new pair of handgrips for the bike along with this kit.I put this brake on my 8 year-old grandson's Mongoose Toast bike we bought him used for $10, replacing the broken cantilever-style rear brake it had. The bike is all tuned up, lubed up, and working great now for a fraction of the price of a new bike of the same model.Installing the brake was a learning experience for me, but all the parts of the kit seem to be top quality, they work great, and now that I know how to do it I can say the install and adjustment was easy. I learned a lot about bike brakes (the spring on the caliper is the key to keeping the cable snug, it has to be under tension when you're done), and now my grandson has an experienced bike brake technician to rely on. :-)

Buy higher quality
Technically performs the function and looks like brakes. Quality is bad. Main bolt snapped when I tried to tight it so the brakes didn't move when using them, brake lines are fraying a little, end caps don't fit the line, brake handle making popping noises like the spring will give. We haven't even put it through paces yet.Buy something higher quality. I'll be replacing this set.

No Installation Instructions
Installation instructions would have been nice to have. No where to download either. Ive never installed hand brakes before so i had to YouTube it. Other than that, they seem ok.

Nice breaks and cables and levers
Really enjoying the new bike parts. My son is really cruising around with the new brakes on his bike. Fit his 20" bmx front and back perfectly.
