The rain gauge works and has some added features but it could definitely be improved. Mounting the outside sender requires a flat surface that is not shielded by structures or vegetation and it is absolutely mandatory that the gauge be mounted flat and level both directions. The way the program measures the rainfall is a little odd. It measures the rainfall in a set increment and totals the amount until the the rainfall ceases for about 4 hours not for a 24 hour period. There is a remote temperature sensor in the remote unit but it is useless during the day since the sun light causes the sensor to read much higher than the ambient temperature. It is close to correct after the sun goes down. The display shows a bar graph of the rainfall in timed increment so it gives you an idea of how steady the rainfall came. Another thing that is odd, the base unit only runs on batteries and there is no option to plug a electric charger into it to make the base unit run without batteries. The batteries are easy to change in both the base unit and the transmitter so you will have to replace the batteries fairly often. I've on had it installed for a few weeks so I will have to find out how long the batteries last and how well the unit stands up to the outside weather elements.

The rain part is not great at all. The 24 hour total doesn't work. Temp is fine. The active rain read out across the bottom goes by so fast you can't really read it to add up the totals yourself.

Can't figure out how to make the outdoor temperature right. You have to put the rain Guage out ti area where it catches rain but I guess by sitting in the sun it makes the outdoor temp 20 degrees higher than it actually is outside??

HAVE NOT HAD ANY RAIN To EVALUATE IT. i BELIEVE IT WILL BE FINE,,,,,,,THE MAIN UNIT IS READING THE RAIN GAUGE UNIT.

It's fun to keep such detailed track of precipitation. Easy to setup. In keeping with their other weather stations from Baldr, a touch screen would be handier than touch buttons on the back of the device.This, coupled with a hygrometer and barometer in the same unit would be fabulous.Still can't measure snow though. Have to use a yardstick and binoculars to view accumulation, some distance from a structure to get "remote" readings for that measurement.
