The description gives the incorrect hose size! The outlet is 9/16" requiring a 3/8" hose! If you use them backwards The 5/16" hose will work. To get a good seal I had to drop down to a 1/4" drill bit, but I'm using them backwards with better success. I'm tapping birch and getting a gallon a day per tree using these correctly and 2 gallons a day per tree using them backwards. These are seriously sturdy spiles! I like everything about them. Being able to use them in either direction is amazing. I know this was never the design intent, but accidental success is still success!

This Spring will be my first time sugaring. These spiles were very reasonably priced, so I thought I'd make up my own kit. These came with spiles, hooks and a drill bit and they are stainless steel. Looks pretty straightforward. I bought some food grade tubing and buckets separately from other vendors. Can't wait to start tapping!

These were easy to use, very sturdy and well made. Highly recommend!

Great tap east to clean new at this but tapped the first time this year and did great!
