It’s what the professionals use
I use this every workday all day. I put it through it’s paces and I go through one every six months or so, but the clutch mechanism is a must for me. One the belt clip broke off (my fault) one the cord did eventually break after a year. One the clutch gave out, and one was a dud and exchanged. It is a consumable item. I keep it on my belt and the ring secured to a normal belt clip so keys are attached to my person twice, plus an air tag. My keys secure millions of dollars of property so losing them can never happen. I look at it as $40 a year employment insurance. I’ve tried many different ways and this seems to work best for me. Wish they would make a mil-spec version.

Bulky, study, great reach but breaks easily
A little bulky, but does its job well. I have to use a key fob to open a gate when I drive home. I either had to stop the car to use the fob, or take the fob off the key ring and risk losing it. With this key ring, I can keep the car key in the ignition, extend the wire with the fob on the end, reach out the window with it & open the gate. Blessings to whomever invented this little gem!Ps. The retractable part lasted a little over a month before it got stuck and stopped working. If you look at this as a disposable item, you can be happy. When it works, it works well. I just bought 2 more (even though it hurts me to support a company that makes inferior merchandise)/- because, in the meantime, I haven’t found a better-made option. Just know that this product is WAY more expensive than it looks, since you would probably have to buy 10 or 12 a year to make sure you always have a working one. If I find a better option, I’ll post about it here.

Heavy Duty - A little bulky - works perfectly!
So, I work in the self storage business as a store manager. I am fairly new to the industry and decided I needed a better way to carry around the massive amount of keys that I do. Keep in mind I also sub at about 3 other stores and have copies of their main sets as well. So, I usually have anywhere between 15 to 25 keys of widely various sizes on my work keyring ay any given time.I was worried about getting a ratcheting system and not having a metal cable old school stainless steel retractable. However, I needn't have a worried a bit. I actually had about 21 oh wait 23 keys from work along with my 7 keys and car key-fob hanging from this thing at one time. It did not pull the cord out, even with that much weight. So, then you would expect the spring tension to be too high but it is not. It is comfortable and since it pulls out and clips at whatever length you pull out then just a short tug to release it has no tension while using a key.I have only had it for about a month and so far it is well worth the money. Also bought one for a friend/coworker who uses his at his store and is working great. The clip is also VERY easy to operate and grabs a belt loop without missing a beat. If I'm late to work, it just snaps right on. I am no longer fighting with the other one I was using, adding minutes to my morning preparation for work.My only complaint was the size if the main body of the unit. It is a bit bulky. If there was a way to slim this down and make where it wasn't quite so large, it would be absolutely perfect. I understand this may not be possible, but it need to be created at some point. Otherwise, I am slightly worried about the long term durability, but I will return with that info when it breaks or sometime this summer.Good product, good value, not sleek, sharp, or sexi in any way other than being black.

Key-bak is the most durable of all similar products.
Key-bak is the most durable of all similar products. Don't buy other brands if you cannot afford to lose your keys. If the retracting mechanism fails, one is annoyed but the keys are not lost. If the cord breaks, the keys are lost.To Key-bak: Continue to make good, durable products. Don't lower your standards. You are the best. Remain the best.

May the fortune of a good build bless you
I recently decided to try Key-Bak, instead of a similar brand. Though I've purchased the 48" version in the past, it never really lived up to expectations. Usually, within a month, it would no longer function, and though my keys that I have to carry fall under the suggested weight retraction of 10oz, it always felt slow.Still, I wanted to give them another shot, and get a 2 pack and try and save a little money.I received my order and not even 2 full days of work later, one of the carabiners would no longer retract. It was the inevitable click click click click when extending and the constant attempt at finding the sweet spot to get it retracted with no weight on the line. The ability to have the line stay extended is awesome, if it worked reliably.I'll simply say good luck, and may you have the fortune of finding one reliable.

really great way to manage keys *****
Well made and works well. I had an issue when I accidently let go of the keys to retract to the case and the case came off of the clip. Unfortunately the clip came off (really wide belt) and fell into a road grate where I could not retrieve it. I would have slid it back into the slot and put a touch of superglue on it if I could have gotten to it. Amazon replaced it and I am going to order another one for another set of keys. KEY-BAK is the best and they stand behind their products.

Good product, however, not high quality.
When I purchased this product, I worked at a Sherwin-Williams facility as a batchmaker making raw paint. My job required me to use my cutting blade quite frequently. I wanted this because when I cut bags of material there's an inherent risk of dropping the blade into the mixer, which then becomes VERY difficult to get out and causes all sorts of downtime. The locking feature on this makes it convenient so I don't have to fight against tension. I pull my blade out as far as I need, it locks, I cut, then tug to make it go back in. Sounds easy enough.Nope.I would tug to get my blade where I want, it wouldn't lock. I would pull again, and it would lock. As soon as I was done with my cut, I'd tug and it would just lock further up the line. I'd pull again and it would max out and lock, so here I am messing up my flow to try and make my blade retract. It would get stuck... A LOT!Eventually, I gave up. It's not worth the trouble.Maybe it works for you, but for me... no.

Holds its promises!
I’ve been buying key-baks for years. I work in a school and have this clipped to my belt. I don’t like having keys on a lanyard around my neck as I unlock and lock doors all day long. This keychain never fails to perform. It boasts that it’s proven to last 1-million pulls, and I can vouch for it. Mine started to glitch a bit yesterday after 2 years of daily abuse, and I immediately ordered a new one, panicked at the thought of going even a day without one. Thank goodness Amazon offers next-day delivery, so I have a new one in my hands. A high-quality heavy duty product that delivers what it promises. Highly recommended!

Undeniable quality
Great quality and strong enough to hold 10+ multi-lock lazar cut keys only with the carabiner and housing was metal or at least the carabiner.
