Simple to operate
I have used other cable testers that were difficult to read. This one allows you to know which cable strands are not registering and it’s easy to tell if your cable is good. My 16 and 18 year old boys were using this equipment when I was teaching them how to make CAT 5E cable.

Instructions could maybe be a little better…
The device works. If you plug in a cable to test in the “master” and “remote”, flip the switch to test, you will see the lights blink, indicating which of the 8 wires are making a solid connection. No connection on the wire, no light. Now I’ve long suspected I had a bad line in my house. My router is in the storage room, and the bad line is in the Family Room. I wanted to test this out, so I plugged in the remote in the Family Room, and went to find the unlabeled line in the storage room. What I discovered through this trial and error, was that the master needs to be plugged in at the remote location, and the test unit needs to be at the other end. The master provides the power, so it cycles through all of the wires thinking everything is fine, even though it hasn’t made a connection to the remote. Once I reversed them, I was then able to find the source line, and also could see the order of the blinking lights was not in 1-8 but rather a random 2-6-4-5-8… I dunno, it’s messed up. Anyway it confirms that the line is either bad, or incorrectly wired, and given the weird pattern, I’m assuming it is the latter. Thanks to this tool I’ve been able to confirm there is an issue, and maybe I’ll even get the wires labeled correctly so I know which one runs to where.

Scam Device
This product doesn't work and seems like a scam but I don't care enough to open up the device and look at the components. I have a known bad line that I have in my house and it reported green across the board. Then I crimped my own cable as a second test and intentionally wired it incorrectly on one end. Green across the board. The product I received either doesn't work or is a scam device.
