A great beginner kit, gorgeous shades, and long-lasting.
A great beginner kit, gorgeous shades, and long-lasting.I bought this Gellen polygel kit because I wanted to start doing my nails at home, and I loved the experience. It comes with four 15ml tubes of builder gel in soft, beautiful colors: peach, light pink, lavender, and natural white. The shades are delicate and perfect for baby boomer, French, or Korean manicures.

Worked perfectly
Worked exactly how it should! I used two coats to get it thicker for doing a French manicure with a stamper and it kept the gel off my skin. Super easy to apply, but if you bump your fingers together the latex will stick to itself. It stinks, but it’s latex so that’s expected. Just wash your hands after using.

You need a higher wattage lamp! 4 watts won't cure this!!!
I tried using this with a 4.5 watt lamp and it would not totally cure even after leaving it under the light for 5 minutes. I thought it felt hard at first but when I scratched it with a very thin and weak natural nail on my other hand it just started scraping off like it was a dried plaster. I knew this couldnt be right so I did some research and came up with the idea that I needed a higher watt lamp. I didn't know how high it needed to be but I guessed and purchased a 24 watt lamp and it finally cured properly. Really happy with the final result but would have loved to know ahead of time that my lamp was too weak.I'm a total newbie to using builder gel, not a trained nail technician and this worked out great for me. I like the viscosity of this for overlaying over a natural nail, it works like thick gel polish but you can build it up for more strength than a polish. It's VERY self leveling which makes it easy to get an even surface as long as you don't use too much product and let it run in to the cuticle.Tip: Hold your nail upside down for a few seconds before you cure for the best result, the polish levels out without flooding the cuticle. Like I said before, my nails are very thin and weak so I wanted to overlay them with something to strengthen them. I imagine it would work great with tip extensions as well but have not tried that yet. This worked great once I got it to cure. I love that there is no scent involved besides the alcohol you use to clean up with. I tried working with acrylic before this and the smell was awful and the learning curve was much higher.Yes, the pots are very small, (think tiny vaporub pot sized) but if you're just using it for personal use or just wanting to try this product out I think this is a good purchase, you shouldl get a good number of sets out of each pot.I do wish it wasn't so messy, I'm afraid if I tip over a pot even with the lid on it will get SO messy, the container really needs a redesign as I can see this becoming a disaster if you're not careful. It's extremely sticky before it's cured so you have to be careful not to make a big mess. But from what I can see all self leveling builder gels seem to be packaged like this right now anyway. Hope they can come up with a better idea because I really like this product!

THE BEST
Hands down, this is a must have if you want that expensive downtown NY nail look.I save around $75 to $125 with the stones and more for this French look. Biweekly - $250 plus tip = now going into my savings. It’s easy to use with a milky creamy consistency just like the picture. I previously purchased the beetle brand in the tube with the nail forms and it’s very thick and you MUST use the slip solution. It is very very messy as while you are working on the nail bed - underneath the nails starts to bulk and slide and you have to cure the top and the bottom - but by the the time you finish with the top - underneath looks like a brick. Gets really hard and very very hard to file. I LOVE THIS BRAND AND WILL ONLY USE THIS ONE. I also purchased the Gellen Nails - No More Forms. I will say, get the Gellen nail glue. I cured the nail on with the light pink Gellen gel and to get this look, I then used the light pink Gel with the white for the tips for a light sleek French . I’m going to use ALL PRODUCTS GELLEN.lol…. Took my husband to the nail salon to get a pedicure, my nail tech was like “you ready where you been”. I said saving my money doing my own nails. He ain’t seen me in 3 months… ADD IT UP $$$$

.LAMP CAUSES BURNING SENSATION, thoughts after 6 months and wish I could return
First of great packaging ... LAMP CAUSES BURNING SENSATION IN SKIN.My biggest issue in 6 months of using it twice a month is the things I have learnt about what I should do to use this kit at home and for a process to be successful all the elements should be considered.I started noticing that my skin was a bit darker when I used the UV lamp and not only that I started to have a burning sensation, a mild burning but steady sensation every time I used the lamp -had to wear finger gloves to use the lamp when I am drying my polish. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE.I also noticed my nails needed more cuticle oil and at least 4/5 days of recovery between each time of usage because I felt the surface of my nails to be more prone to scratches and my nails started to feel brittle. The absolute worst of it all, this again could be poor quality nail polish but that's only part of the problem the removal is such a nightmare I cant even begin to tell.T he acetone soaked cotton pads and wrap each finger in foil method does not take 10 mins!! it takes 60 mins + and you absolutely inadvertently scratch off your nail a bit with the polish scraper, not once in all the times I have used this polish and this method have I been able to take the polish off easily, not even once. I have tried the best acetone and gel polish remover and still nothing. They do not come with the kit.All in all, the end results are nice, polish lasts for close to 8-10 days which is good but the long term effects of the lamp and the whole ordeal of removal makes this so not worth it and I think there is not enough discussion around how bad this is for your nails or at least the DIY process of this specific application + removal. Will not recommend. I wish I could return the kit.
