Lovely book! Beautiful, well sewn projects. Highly recommend.
Gorgeous beginner quilting book! I've been sewing for years and have only made one quilt so I thought this books would be a great one for me. I was right. The photos are stunning and the instructions and diagrams are very easy to follow. There are great instructions for all the "basics" of quilting like piecing, binding, cutting, pressing, nesting seams, squaring up a block, basting the quilt, quilting, etc. What I love most about this book is that there are 7 lovely blocks but each of those blocks can be used in 3 different projects. So if you don't want to make a whole quilt with a block you like you can follow the instructions for a pillow, bag, bib, skirt, etc. There are 21 projects in the book in total and I can say they all looked like something I'd want to make. Well sewn (great eye for detail!) and very simple, yet lovely.Who this book IS for:Someone newish to sewing looking to learn how to quilt.Someone who has been garment sewing for years but wants to try quilting.Someone who has made one or two quilts and would like more ideas and to learn proper techniques.Someone who just loves looking at beautiful quilt books.Sewing teachers, libraries and sewing shops.Who this book IS NOT for:Someone who has been quilting for many yearsSomeone who is looking for applique quiltsGrumpy people. This book is full of light and cheerful quilt projects. All in all, I'm very happy with this purchase. It arrived promptly and in excellent condition and the book is a stunner. Highly recommend.

I love this book
I love this book! The designs are so pretty and I love the modern look to several of them. They are perfect for someone just starting out quilting or even someone looking for new ways to use classic quilting blocks. There are three different projects for each block and they increase in time and skill level. So if you're unfamiliar with a block you can start with a simple bag or pillow and work up to a quilt! I love the fabrics they used as inspiration as well, it's all so bright and fun! I've made the quilt on the cover and I adore it - I'll definitely be making more!

Love it!
Received my book today and love it! A basic book, good for beginners as well as experienced quilters. The authors have included traditional patterns presented in a modern way. I especially enjoyed their recollections of early quilt experiences .... and the desire to re-create those connections with their children. Well done!

Innovative content perfect for the first time quilter and sewist
This book's content is really innovative and perfect for the first time quilter and sewist. The book contains the most basic quilt block like the 9 patch and uses it in probably the most beginner sewing project a standard pillow. Then it builds on the basics with more than one block and more complicated blocks the further into the book you work. What is also darling about this book is that once you understand the piecing, the projects use the same block in a variety of sizes from tiny versions of a log cabin on a bib to a giant scale one used on a quilt. The fabrics and styling are beautiful!

Great projects, but...
I love the projects in this book. I have been a fan of the Simple Simon blog for awhile now and this book is more of the same fresh, pretty and great projects -- even some non-quilt ones. I did notice, however, that there were a few mistakes so that's why I am dropping my rating from 5 stars to 4... One of the quilt patterns had the wrong number for cutting fabric needed for blocks as well as a too small size for backing. There is no photo for a bag pattern so I have no idea what the heck it's supposed to look like. There may be more little errors -- I haven't gone though each pattern -- but any errors are sloppy in my opinion. Especially since the book is for beginners to advanced.
