I just used this for the first time for a 12-day vacation/cruise to the Mediterranean (along with a medium-size suitcase). I was pleasantly surprised at the capacity of this carryon suitcase. I packed my laptop (surface pro 11) and charging pack, two complete outfits including underwire bras, a set of pj's, pair of women's size 9 slip on sneakers, travel jewelry box, TSA-compliant liquids set, a light jacket, file folder with travel documents, other cruise accessories, and still had room. I could easily use this alone for a 3-4 day trip.I had to check this bag on my return flights and crossed my fingers that it would survive. It made it with flying colors! It only sustained couple of little scuffs that rubbed right off and it was once again pristine.I love that you can easily access the laptop compartment without exposing the contents of your entire bag. The top load style is a huge space saver and allows for bulky items to be packed. I now wonder why all suitcases aren't made this way.The zippers worked smoothly and the lock was simple to reset and use.The wheels rolled effortlessly, even when full, and maneuvered over carpet, concrete, and cobblestones with the same ease as when on tile or hardwood floors. My medium-sized suitcase of a different brand did not roll anywhere near as easily and was a source of great frustration as I lugged it through the streets of Rome and Venice and several airports. I love this carryon so much I'm going to replace my medium suitcase with the 24-inch version of the Hamke for my longer trips.One note - the white laptop version of this carryon is not a true white. It's more of a warm white/ecru. I like it and it stands out on the luggage belt at the airport.Bottom line: I'm very happy I bought this carryon and definitely recommend it.

This bag was mangled on a recent flight to Europe. Dented, warped, one wheel looked like it was coming off and I could not stand up the bag.So, my first thought was: cheap material.But think again.My husband has the identical bag and it arrived without a scratch. And judging by the damage to my bag, it had to have fallen off the trolley and run over or maybe crushed by the baggage belt system.The bag had NOT come open despite the damage and no content was damaged or missing.We decided to do a basic repair at home. It took 2 men and brute force to get the dents out and to straighten the frame. And guess what? The hardshell material, polycarbonate (considered the most suitable by consumer research) did not crack or break despite all this force and I could actually use the suitcase on my return flight home. Its not pretty anymore and I will replace it whenever United decides to reimburse me but I can say, your stuff is safe with this bag.The design of this bag is so simple and yet makes so much sense. A clamshell bag takes up twice its' footprint. This bag has a lid and when open only takes up the single footprint of the bag. GeniusAND, it is lightweight and the wheels roll ever so smoothly.I highly recommend the Hanke 24 inch and even my grouchy husband, who did not want a new suitcase, admits that this bag is amazing.
