I bought this to use to clean out my pets' food and water bowls. I didn't like the idea of using soap (would that taste remain?) and I wanted something that would disinfect the bowls. My animals all use stainless steel bowls. Well, at first it really scared the cats. It sounded like a really angry hiss. They are used to it now and I not only use it to clean their bowls, but also to clean my kitchen sink and countertops. Yes, it does produce water (it is called STEAM!) but it does a great job in cleaning and is very portable. I used it also to clean the tiles in my bathroom and ended up cleaning the shower doors. There was always a problem with hard water stains and I was very reluctant to use chemicals that advice you to use gloves. The steamer did the trick. I applied steam to the doors, used a squeegee and lo and behold, my doors are free of those annoying stains. The steam lasts about 10 minutes, but I didn't buy this little guy to clean everything. I might get a bigger steamer for that, but I would definitely recommend this steamer for anyone who has lots of small jobs. It is also a great way to clean and sanitize pet food bowls.

I bought this steam cleaner for a very specific use, which was to deice my icemaker in my Samsung fridge which had turned into a block of ice. For this purpose it was absolutely great and did exactly what I needed it to do so that I could take out and repair the ice maker icing over issue in my fridge. After using it for that, I found that it made short work of the light colored tile grout in my kitchen that had turned dark due to grime, and cleaned it better than any chemical grout cleaner I've ever used. As noted in my review title though, this cleaner is for small jobs only. I'm still trying to find uses for this steamer, and can only get the grout clean around 6-8 12" tiles before it runs out of steam. It works great and blasts out steam very strongly the first few seconds, but will peter off and need to reheat again shortly which takes longer than it feels like it should. For small jobs this is great, but for anything larger than spot cleaning things, you'll want to get a larger steam cleaner with a much larger water reservoir. I'm happy with my purchase as I knew it's limits, and I think expectations of what this unit can do really need to be in line with how small it is and how small the reservoir is. Be aware that the steam when blasting out is very loud and high pitched. It really bothered me as I have excellent hearing and am very bothered by very loud noises, so you may want to pick up a pair of earplugs when using this machine.

I used to have a Shark handheld steam cleaner for a few years that I loved until my dogs chewed the lid (went it was off) and I couldn't find that model so I decided to try this one. I didn't fill up the water basin enough the first time, but when my husband kindly pointed it out. this thing really blasted off dirt. It gets all the little nooks and crannies that I missed, especially in the kitchen and bathroom. It doesn't work well on soap scum, but it is really useful for under cracks and in corners to get rid of dirt, I just follow it with a clean towel. It melts the dirt from dirty kid hands off of doors. Fast shipping, great price. I will update if the unit fails any time soon.

I purchased this product on 2/7/13. Performance was satisfactory until recently. After 1.5 years of light household use the steam output on my Steamfast Steam Cleaner became weak/intermittent even after several attempts at removing mineral buildup with vinegar as recommended in owner's manual. Also, I loaded the unit halfway to full with steam distilled water whenever I used it (to minimize mineral buildup). However, the performance continued to deteriorate and I am no longer able to use it. My estimated usage was approximately 1-2 times per month for about a 1/2 hour of cleaning each time. At most, my total use over that time period would be 18 hours or 2 full 8-10 hour days of use. When I contacted Steamfast/Vornado customer service and informed them that it was no longer under warranty, they informed me that they would not be able to repair or replace the unit and instead offered me a discount towards the purchase of a new unit. However, this discounted price was more than what I could get it for from Amazon. Prior to the break down, I was a satisfied with the price/performance of this unit. I was hoping for or expecting that Steamfast would stand by their product in some fashion and work with me in some way after this product broke down after only a year and a half of use. Since they did not, I will be throwing it away and shopping for another make/model of handheld steam cleaner due to this products lack of durability and proper customer support. I am so dissatisfied that I will never purchase another Steamfast/Vornado product again.

I really wanted to love this thing because I see people using them, and they always seem to work well. I know it’s only a $40 product, but I was getting frustrated with the amount of time. The steam actually came out with any force. I filled it up and once it came to pressure I had approximately 12 to 15 minutes of steam. The light came on and I stopped and timed how long it took to come back up to pressure and it was anywhere between 40 to 45 seconds. So out of a five minute usage, I was actually only able to use this product for a total of about a minute and 15 seconds. it’s going back.

Not the best but does what I needed it for. Wish had a long wand for reaching higher spots. But knew it didn’t when buying it. Gets the gunk off the plastic siding of the house easy and fast.

I purchased this steamer 3 years ago, and it's still going strong for me. I use the steamer mostly for cleaning bathrooms, and not much for anything else. The scrub attachments work fine, but they tend to not hold up well under heavy use. What I have done to clean tubs/floors/sink for a "deep clean" is use the steamer to steam a space, then use a scrub brush on the area just steamed, and microfiber or paper towel to wipe water and residue away. One thing that my steamer does that can be startling, it "spits" hot water when the nozzle and steamer are pointed downwards. It doesn't seem to have much to do with the fill (however, don't over fill it!), just the direction of the reservoir. If you are trying to scrub with the scrubber attachments, it definitely spits more with more motion. This little steamer has held up well over the last three years, and if it gives out in the future, I'd definitely purchase another. Especially because the price just can't be beaten for such a useful little steamer.
