Q: Has anyone found a machine that welds .2mm nickel strip that is actually strong enough you had to turn the power down because it burns through?

SO I just bought the U.S. Solid Battery Spot Welder Capacitor Energy Storage Pulse Welding Machine, 12 KW Mini Portable Spot Welding machine and tested it last night. It welded .2 nickel strips at 1/5th maximum power. The spec's say it can weld 0.4mm nickel plated and 0.35mm pure nickel, which I tend to believe but have not tested. With this system, you connect the power and allow 15 minutes for the two large capacitors to charge up. Once charged, you can weld for hours wirthout stopping. I love everything about this spot welder. The only part I can not speak for is reliability (I don;t know how long it will last without breaking). The company states that the device has a 12-month warranty. Good luck.

Q: Are there electrodes of other material for this device? the copper ones are getting attached to the material even at minimum power

A better electrode material for spot welding in general is Chromium copper alloy. Not knowing what copper alloy that came with the device, I doubted that it is Chromium copper alloy. However, I find that if you lower the electrodes quickly instead of slowly, there is less sticking. I found that less sticking at higher power with the quick spot welding action. I am using the spring loaded electrode. I am using the hand-push welding arm that came with the welder.

Q: Can this weld .20mm nickel strips?

I do not recommend this site welder. It would either burn through the strips or the strips did not hold after spot welding. Waisted alot of time spot welding until one would hold. I returned it. Read the other negative reviews.
